the melvins shouldnt have canned joe preston. he was by far the rawest hulk of low end movement buzzo and dale have made an album with yet. lorax was badass though too. buzzo shouldve played bass on the atlantic records instead of mark d. they wouldve been heavier.

You people are ridiculous. Mark Deutrom was awesome. The three albums they made with him are incredible. He had a terrific tone that was very unique. He also played a lot of guitar (that's his solo on Revolve, the one that sounds like "American Woman"). FOr proof of his heaviness and sound, check out "The Bloat" from _Stag_. When heard in a stadium (I saw them open for Tool and play this song), that bass riff is monumental. They're an awesome band without Mark, and they were awesome before him, but slagging him off like this is lame. He was the man, and the band was arguably at their peak with him.

once again, to reiterate the known; joe preston IS a talentless hack and he was booted from melvins for good reason. he is the maggot, bootlicker and crybaby. before he was in the melvins he spent all of his time making fanzines about them and then joined earth, a band created by dylan carlson who after hearing gluey porch treatments, never wanted to make music again. post melvins, joe just plays bad, unintelligent and unoriginal imitation melvins in thrones. note how the only album he made with the band comprised of two covers and only three originals. dont get me wrong, lysol is one of my favorite albums but not because of joe. he stifled the melvins because he couldnt contribute shit.
