Hey,

I was just wondering what gear Buzzo uses for that GIGANTIC fuzz tone he has. I know his axe is a les paul custom but that's about it. I use an ESP guitar tuned down one and a half steps to C# through a Boss GT-5 processor and have a patch that's pretty close to his sound. I can write that patch down for anyone who wants it. Lest you think I'm some sort of guitar nerd, I'm not! I'm just curious! eh

Well that Boss GT-5 cost three times as much as the amps he uses. The Sunn Beta Lead/Bass(lead has a week reverb but otherewias the same). That is the sound of the Melvins. You can find them at pawn shops for $100 bucks. You couls buy 3 with what you payed for the GT-5, and have 300 watts. He does use the Pre Amp version now with a either a Carvin or Carver power amp now. Also a Rat when he does a solo. Most of the time he just uses the amp al la Lisol.

Thanks for that info Ben. Unfortunately I don't live in the US so I definitely can't buy Sunn Beta amps in either pawn shops or regular guitar shops. Also, I don't play or want to play Melvins-like exclusively, so yes, the gt-5 was a good investment and I'd heartily recommend it to anyone who wants to have that kind of versatility.
