what did you guys think of the album? I'm sorry to say it but aside from Youth of America I was a tad disappointed by it, it seemed kinda like a half-assed excuse to put that cool cover-art out somewhere, or maybe the band just plain ran out of McDonalds coupons and needed some more cash (not to give anyone the wrong idea here, I love the band) but I really expect more from the Melvins y'know?
what was your opinion?

Here's a review from the local (Montreal) paper/magazine (The Mirror):
----------
Disc of the Week: Electroretard
The prolific Melvins are back again with something old, something new,
something borrowed and something to completely rip your head off. Opener
and sole new track "Shit Storm", a three minute noisefest, prepares you for
the onslaught that only these three dukes of dementia could concoct. Their
stab at the Wiper's :Youth of America" is stretched out for a
nine-minute-long ride before they dismantle and rework their classics
"Gluey Porch Treatments," "Revolve," "Tipping the Lion" and "Lovely
Butterflies." Their take on Pink Floyd's "Interstellar Overdrive" is
spot-on but their version of brethren band the Cows' :Missing" is simply
amazing. The Melvins are God's favourite band and should be yours. 9/10

"Shit Storm" is not a "three-minute noisefest" you Canadian bonehead! It's just a live recording of "Revolve" backwards!

The artwork is funny. Besides they thank A. HiLTer, NOT A. HiTLer.

By KingButterfly on Monday, April 23, 2001 - 12:22 pm: Edit

ok,they thank A.HiLTer,but switch around the "L" with the"T" and you got it!!1And what about the colours the used?!Black White and Red!That were the colours of Nazi-Germany???I realy don´t think, that this is funny...Besides:The Melvins are the goddamn Kings of Rock! They do not need strange propaganda!

How could you not love those cute kids slaughterring lambs?

By Abominus on Saturday, August 25, 2001 - 02:36 pm: Edit

Nazis? Methinks not. The Melvins are very sarcastic and are always playing their fans for asses. They like to have a laugh at the public...they're not Nazis.

I thought electroretard was a blinding album , all the effects and distorted mayhem are exactly what the melvins always deliver , and even if u don't like it theres no need to be so judge mental . photom is right u are being nazi's and maybye criticising fans are who the melvins are trying to snipe at with that hitler bunny :P
