It's got me seriously looking forward to this forthcoming new Deutrom solo album!

Great interview. Pretty harsh if that's the way it happened!

Always spinning Marks Solo albums, so looking forward to his next one.

Love his albums. It’s a shame more people don’t know his solo stuff. I would say I wished they had kept him but we all know they put out some killer shit after getting rid of him also. Maybe one day they will work with him again.

Would be nice, but will never happen.

Personally im glad he's no longer with the band. I don't say that because i don't like his playing, but because i want to see what he does on his own. Allow him the freedom to make his own music. He's too good to be wasting that, doing what the Melvins want. Same goes with Jared and Coady. I'd rather they focused on BB and we got that music as well. That's why one of the reasons i want Trevor Dunn to be the permanent Melvins bassist, because i don't follow his music outside of Melvins.

i think Melvins never force bassists to do something, they let them free to add their things to the band

Mark is making great music these days. I'm very happy with that and hope he gets his act together and tours. More people need to support him. Btw, we've got James Flores from his band in the Facebook group and he's a wealth of information on Mark D/ Bellringer stuff, tho he has moved on to other bands. Reminds me I need to order my CD of Brief Sensuality

Mark wanted to write more radio friendly tunes like Revolve.  Plus he was always grumpy as fuck.  Kinda sad he is still miffed over getting the boot 20 years later.  I thought the Kevin Ass era was more interesting.  In my opinion HAT was the last great Melvins release.  Too bad that didn't work out.

i don't think that, last Melvins album he was involved in is Honky.. one of their most experimental. also his solo career is not exactly about radio friendly tunes. there are more radio friendly tunes in Melvins recent releases probably

That was a great read. For me, Mark D still is the ex-Melvins bassist with the highest musical abilities. His albums deserved A LOT more success and recognition than what they got. It's good that his records will be re-released on a bigger label and that he's in good health overall.

I don't have any Mark D. solo albums. I do have an account w/ Season Of Mist. When I pre-order the new KEN mode - Loved(out 8/31), I'll likely add some of Mark's CDs to the cart.

Mark D is a seriously badass musician. I love his Silent Treatment album - so fucking good.

This. Sad how few people listened to it, and how difficult it apparently was to get out there.

I've put all three Mark D albums on rotation in Spotify and the Bellringer record, thanks to the recommendations of those of you on this board.

If we consider Big Business a bass player side project then it might be splitting hairs on which I prefer, but there's nothing about Mark's output that detracts musically from the Melvins legacy in any way. As a fan, it's a shame they couldn't work out their differences over time. It would be very cool if there were a series of split EPs some time:

Melvins/Bellringer
Melvins/Honky
Melvins/Trio Convulsante
Melvins/Redd Kross
Melvins/Big Business
Melvins/Hepa Titus

I guess that's sort of redundant since that's happened here and there anyway.
