Yep, Buzz and Kevin Rutmanis have a 7" coming out on Rock Is Hell records in Jan 2019.

Could this be the start of more Rutmanis and Melvins cohesion?
-
Hoping for a Kev Ass tour, play HAT in its entirety.
Fingers Crossed should be the name of their collaboration album :D
-
Saw the picture on Facebook and briefly misunderstood and thought the new Bluewhale thing was a split with Suicide. I'd absolutely say that the Melvins should cover "Ghost Rider" if not for the fact that that song's been appropriated and now everyone thinks Henry Rollins wrote it

Ha ha, Henry DID write it, right? Right?!?!
-
Blue whales are ok but I like the Right whale best.

Big Business did a cover of it on their last Tour EP

Sperm.

Rock Is Hell has confirmed this will be for sale on the mini tour. :nerd:
-
Best music news I've heard since I learnt Tomahawk was touring Sydney.
Can't underestimate how good this news is!
-
Yeah this is great news good for Kevin that now makes future Melvins collaborations possible and good for Buzz too letting go of grudges.
-
I don't think it was a matter of grudges, but it's good to see Kevin playing with Buzz.
-
I've been living under a rock on Mars with my hands over my ears last 8 months.
Why no one tell me about this?????

This is exiting news!
-
it's good to see Kevin playing with Buzz.
I suppose technically he already has been doing so for a while. I mean Kevin played bass on their Roxy Music cover on Everybody Loves Sausages, plus he finished up his work with the band on Three Men And A Baby.

And it's all Chow....

I don't think it was a grudge either. It was watching a bandmate and friend spiral downward and not being able to do anything about it except kick him out of the band. Kevin is back and doing well. I'm thrilled. Can't wait to hear this.
-
Kevin's like pretty much the greatest bass player in the past, present and future of mankind and all variants thereafter. Just as an understatement though.
/Fanboy mode off.
-
Now this is really exciting, looking forward to it. Of course we all hope to see Kevin back in Melvins at some point.
-
When I think of Kevin, I think of hostile Ambient takeover.
At the time, It really felt like the point in the bands career where they somehow started to become accepted into the fine arts community in some ways...Which for musicians is virtually IMPOSSIBLE!!!
You're like Captain beefheart where the choice has to be made whether you want to be one thing or the other...artist or musician.
The Melvins seamlessly have managed to simultaneously walk the line in both worlds, which really stands as a testament to their greatness.

Honestly, at $65 after shipping to US, I just couldn't do it. There have just been too many cool records for me this year. Kudos to those that get one, though
-
There will be a few copies of this 7"/book set available on the California/AZ/NV tour in January.
-
Will this also be streamable?
-
What a great endorsement!

you can't stream a lock groove
-
Just got my shipment from Rockishell. Package is great. One 45rpm record in white sleeve with white label housed next to the glossy NSFW art book in sort of a wrap-around book cover that goes vertically. I don't collect art books so I don't know if this is common.
I have not heard the record yet, but there is a bandcamp download card included (mp3/flac/wav options). Looks like Bluewhale has one track of 4 1/2 minutes "Suicide", and Void Manes has one track of about 4 minutes, "Mercury Vapor."
-
Suicide is a bit of a noise-scape with some digitally processed dual vocals from Buzz & Kevin.
At least I think Kevin is also singing...kinda hard to tell.
-
I would like to buy the digital version of the single.
-
there is a bandcamp download card included
Anywhere to hear this online at all? I can't find a dedicated bandcamp for the single if one does exist.
-
Yeah, even though its in my Bandcamp collection, any attempt to find it via a search comes up with nothing.
The release is labeled as 'NIGHTDAYCREAM' by Rock Is Hell Records on Bandcamp if that helps anyone locate it for purchase, and as far as I can tell does not have the Void Manes split included.
-
I thought the bandcamp is a redemption for physical purchases only.

I thought the bandcamp is a redemption for physical purchases only.
That would make sense...
-
Now available directly at the merch table on the current mini tour, or from VOID MANES via social media.
Rock is Hell went above and beyond on the printing of this book, the sleeve, the skull white vinyl, etc. Really nice.
Purchase includes a download of both sides of the 7", but the vinyl give you the extra fun of playing at different speeds and the lock groove on the VOID side.
I should further mention that especially the members of the board here should follow MOW SKWOZ and take advantage of buying original art from her directly before her prices go skyward. She is about to exhibit at a group show curated by Chet Zar in California.

The drink coaster in the middle looks like it's seen better days.

Would it? I collect vinyl too but I would primarily like to hear what this thing sounds like and that doesn't seem to be the purpose of it

I meant from the point of view of not being able to find it for sale on Bandcamp. I get what your laying down.

Got mine today in the mail. Haven’t opened it yet but excited to check it out!

If you are in Europe, Rock is Hell is down to the last 7 copies.
In the US, contact Mow Skwoz on social media to see if she has any left.
