Is haze Left handed? Whys it's inverted? :?

No I'm kidding, but man...He's a guy I'd love to take some Lino Cut Lessons from, excepting he may or might turn me into a Lino cut if I screw around too much.

Keep up the good work boys.

Probably if Haze is doing the art. I guess the title is 'Escape From LA' too.

hmmm, it could be. On the other hand, when I saw the lino cut I had the strange feeling that it could be one of those really special releases that are only going to exist on vinyl with no cheap 5$ CD considered, which obviously sucks.

Yes, and it's only available at the show, and it's $200, there were only 5 made, and it's already sold out. Heard rallysally really wants it.

I'll copy this verbatim (that's your actual Latin) from AmRep's Facebook:

On Sunday Sept 1 (noon central) we'll be cutting loose with the online edition of the Melvins/Redd Kross Tour 10". Of the 500 made, 400 are hitting the road for this extensive tour. This edition of 100 sports a day-glo red AND glow in the dark sleeve colors to create an accurate portrayal of nuked and burning apocalyptic Babylon...er um...Los Angeles, with pus and blood swirl colored vinyl as a bonus. A treasure trove of death and destruction every home needs. This edition comes with its very own Melvins Donuts sticker to add to the horror. No it's not a double 10", we just showed the A and B sides for effect with what the sleeve looks like unfolded.

The HAZE XXL glow in the dark, signed edition of 40, silk screened tour prints will launch at the same. No we can't combine shipping unless you want us to roll your 10" into a poster tube, which can be done for a $5 upcharge.

the online version on sunday was $60.
they have 400 on tour for (I guess) around 50 shows... so it will be interesting to see if there are 8 freaks per show that buy one... besides the money they spend for the ticket, food and drinks.
if not, then the 8 freaks on here will get another shot to buy the other versions online :D

not sure how many they still have left from sabbath / bangers, but so far they always sold-out their limited stuff sooner or later.

Clearly that stuff was made for another kind of public, not us, and Buzz was very clear about it during the small portion that I could watch of the COD documentary. The only thing that really bugs me is the fact that there's no cheap CD of the Melvins/Redd Kross album... I just hope to see an Ipecac CD including those songs in a not too distant future.

Not sure about bangers, but I believe they pressed a new color version for the sabbath ep. If I can find a picture, I'll post it.

Record prices/edition sizes will keep increasing as long as there's a market.

ah exactly that sabbath version is beautiful.

i have absolutely no issue with the prices... myself being a melvins feak these items have a different value to me than maybe to other melvins fans... I always try to pick one up and am happy with one version per release. sitting in switzerland and considering that the band never brings decent stuff to europe when on tour, it's great that amrep actually makes an online selling with proper announcement before. all you need is time, a little planning and a bit of luck to be quick enough to get one.

Trying to book tickets for the Orlando show.
Tickets are $25, but with "service fee" ($7) and tax it becomes $34....
Isn't 30% a bit pricey for a service fee?
Are there any other options besides buying at the door?

Heard Haze on a podcast talking about people complaining about the prices of this kind of stuff. I'm paraphrasing but he basically said that normally just a print would cost that much and you're getting a record to top it off. These are considered boutique items and if you want it you're gonna pay for it. Not to mention these aren't normal printed sleeves, they are screen printed if I'm correct. As he said in the Melvins documentary, these are boutique items for fans who are willing to pay that much.

I get all that but to me this is taking the piss it's just gouging the fuck out of their diehard fans. This kind of shit wouldn't fly over here if people heard that a band was slapping a few cover songs on a 7" doing a "fancy" sleeve and charging the equivalent of around $75 AU they would cop so much shit and rightfully so.

I mean at least the band could sign the damn things or throw in a full length album on CD inside too.

Hipsters will buy anything.

And like Buzz and Haze said, if you don't want to pay, find it and download it for free from the interwebs. They cannot stop the flippers nor the theifs. I say get what you can while you can. In this case if in a year this does not come out with some other release on a cd, I'll have to steal it off the interwebs. Records do nothing for me, I just what the file to slap on my phone or computer to listen to when every I want.

Too bad AmRep does not have a digital download site like band camp. Even if they put them up after something sells out or they've made their money off the limited runs.

Sounds like you want the fancy version for a non fancy price. It's a 10" record not a 7". Art was made by a hand carved linocut. If you're not familiar Maybe you should look up what that is and how time consuming it is. And there's only 400 of em. These aren't mass produced run of mill eps, That's why they don't have run of the mill prices. If that still doesn't make sense , then just don't buy it. Could they be a little cheaper ...probably. But no one buys music anymore. Merch is really the only way bands can make money now. That and touring. Good for them for figuring out a way to keep doing what they are doing and staying afloat when in a time where bands are hanging it up because of not making money. If they didn't do as well in merch I wonder if they would tour as much as they do?

I agree it would be nice for them to have a bandcamp for all the singles and rare stuff. That or a cheapie cd for every ep. seems like they usually end up on YouTube at some point or another though

The points Haze and Buzz have are purely justifiable. It takes time and they don't won't the shit hanging around. Get in sell it and move on. Hazes words on COD. Cool.

But they are slightly contradicting themselves. 100 was made available online. Only 1 per sale. Cool. The mass/international don't get a chance. Sold in 60 seconds. Remaining for shows. So less people get a chance of getting how ever many they want. That's my beef. Outside of that they can do what they want.

That's true, also the Bangers Ep and this album with Redd Kross are not available on YouTube and they're not easy to find on torrent or in places like Soulseek. An AmRep bandcamp page sounds like a very good idea.

The fact that you can get the Bangers EP as well as Flipper and Sabbath as Cheapy CDs, I agree with the Boutique logic. I do not with This one. Unless it does come out later at some point.

I'm not over Redd Kross at all, but are their songs available on previous albums/releases?
If so, this could be why the EP is not available as a CD. Licensing issue maybe. So the Melvins tracks could be on something else later. Stevens (Kiss) EP never came out on CD either. But yes those tracks were uploaded to YouTube.

Jesus christ $50 for a fuckin EP on vinyl.

I predict another Melvins covers album surfacing eventually. Being that most of their releases have been covers lately.

...And it gets exhausting to keep seeing the complaints about the prices on these limited releases.

It is HAND MADE ART that also happens to have a record included. Stop thinking about it as a "$50 EP"

-I am a huge vinyl nerd and a rabid Melvins fan. I can't always afford it.. So I don't buy it. I actually rarely do. I own a handful of them and I treasure them. I know there will be more. That's one of the great things about being a Melvins fan, they are constantly creating and a crazy prolific hard working band. I feel blessed that I can go see my favorite band in a smaller venue basically once a year for a decent fairly priced ticket and count on a constant stream of material that will always be interesting.
There are many fans of more popular bands that can not say any of those things. You have to get bent over and violated to go see them in a shitty arena for hundreds of dollars after waiting years for new material.

MP3, AIFF, ALAC and WAV for that matter since they're lossless formats, that's why an AmRep bandcamp page would be such a good idea.

And from what I understand, Bandcamp is where the band (if from their page and not a record lable) gets/makes the most money these days. There is really no expense if you are just buying a digital album. CDs, records, and tapes cost money to produce, and take away profit for the band. This is where I get most my music from now. Then someplace like itunes or amazon or real product like a cd and rip it.

Amen for Bandcamp. And I get that it's logical for it to be pricier but I recall they were $30 a few years ago. Now they're $50-60? Something doesn't add up. And I'm not even going to mention bundles prices. Uniqueness and DIY should factor into the price for sure, but I think you have to keep it in line with the amount of actual content as well.

I spent $50 on the Melvins/Redd Kross split 10". It's pricey, but it is beautiful art. I wish I could have afforded to buy the Flipper and Sabbath 10"s as well, but I couldn't really afford to shell out the cash. It's cool with me. I don't mind the prices and think the records are worth it.

Totally separate songs. "Ghost on the Highway" is Melvins covering The Gun Club. "Highway" is one of four collab tracks with Melvins playing as the rhythm/backing (it seems) for Shitkid.

Im not familiar with the Gun Club original, but this cover is okay. Good enough. It's funny how i give Melvins a pass when it comes to their covers, but then when it's original material im more opinionated. I guess really i should just learn to accept whatever comes in our direction regardless.

Beg to differ about Honky. Lovely Butterflies and Mombius Hibachi are classic Melvins, but not even at the level of Atlantic year classics. They All and Pitfalls and Mouth Breather are anomalous essentials. Grin and Freaktose are fun. Laughing is among their better novelty tunes. But there's still ten to fifteen minutes on this record that just never connected for me.

I still haven't heard anything as unique or creative in the form of a record album by any other band that can touch Honky.

But it's not for everyone, that's also another thing that makes it so special IMHO.

You want to know why it sounds the way it does compared to the Atlantic albums?

they could make a record with an advance for probably between $50,000-$80,000 more or less with Atlantic.

Then apparently a Lawsuit ensued for breach of an evil contract that for sure was intended to ruin them as a band...

I doubt they had much money to record anything after that... they made good use of a low budget production.

I try to get a friend of mine into the Melvins and Honky was the first album that struck her. Althou she likes late Swans and Sunn o))) she did not like Lysol.

Dunno. I'm hoping they'll be popular enough for Revolve Merchandise to put some up on their site after the tour. If enough people ask Revolve to do that, maybe they will.....

So they resorted to recycling tracks that were already on other releases.
Not to mention this CD is all cover songs, as most newer Melvins songs are.
I really don't like where this is going.

Sacrifice, Green Manalishi, Going Blind, Lexicon Devil, Female Trouble, Black Sabbath, Leeech, the list goes on... There are cover songs that are as Melvins as can be.

Besides, "Hot Fish" and all the Shitkid record are new songs. Don't sleep on these releases.

True, but quantity does not make quality.
Some of them are über awesome and some are honestly not worth the tape (or hdd space, whatever) they're recorded on.
And then again, even the best covers do not exactly substitute original songs. There has been way too few lately in comparison.

I didn't sleep on them - I slept from listening to them  Mostly.
I liked "I Saw You Shine" a lot but that's a cover again.
I thought Ornar Flyger Over Amerika was slightly above "eh" because it was catchy, but that's mostly a Shitkid song where it could have been easily any other band instead of the Melvs and it would have been the same.

I mean, point taken, but that's what, 4 new half-original songs? Throwaway songs for collabs that they'll never play live? I'm sorry but if a year passes by and 4 half-original half-hearted songs vs/+ 6 cover songs is all we get, I think that's... not a great output. Very low output considering this is the Melvins we're talking about. Starting to feel stale, honestly. Something mind-blowing and original better be coming.

What other fanbase has a favorite band with a thirty year arc where they still put out Hold It In, This Machine, Crystal Fairy, Basses Loaded, A Walk, plus these collabs EPs and PAT in the span of five years? You guys take this band for granted. That's all I'm saying.

If they're hoarding some new original work to release soon, I'm happy about that, too. Maybe Melvins Lite or Cantonese 2 will come first. That's fine. If you've seen Steven and Dale on this tour, you know this iteration of the band has completely coalesced into the monster we all want. Let them do something. If they told us the plan for Bootlicker or Stag or POTRE in advance all these boardies probably would have pined for the last album be done all over again. Thank God The Melvins listen to their own direction.

It is with utmost sadness that I am regretfully going to have to miss seeing the Syracuse show. It is unfortunate, I currently do not possess the personal finances or transportation resources to do so. Having said that, I hope that the tour is going well and the group is enjoying themselves on and off stage, and having a satisfactory tour so far.

I really enjoy seeing the band perform live and hopefully will be lucky enough next time they are able to make it.

Cheers to their success, health and wellbeing.

Thank you Melvins.

Love as always

- Dumpster D.

By the way, about SHOXOP... apparently I did the whole shopping process too quickly, mainly because I thought they were going to be sold out really fast, and I made a mistake when I typed my email address , that's why I only received the PayPal receipt and not the order confirmation.

I was there last night. Awesome show!

First time seeing them in Syracuse... (I always go to Boston or NYC depending on what night the show falls on.)

Venue was pretty small which was great and it seemed to be only about 1/2-3/4 full

Was able to get right up front and watch comfortably without much nonsense.

I truly love the set list they are playing right now. So freaking good..

Yeah, was surprised to be able to score a Black Haze edition of Honky (had a hard time deciding between that and the pink one..)

Was surprised that they didn't have the new Ipecac Maggot/Bootlicker -Which I haven't grabbed yet cause I was planning on it when I saw them.

Yep, Syracuse show was epic :D Bought a ticket no prob @ box office an hour before doors opened. 5th time seeing them w/ Steve. I honestly thought Pinkus was on board for this tour too like last year. Was surprised that he wasn't there. Great setlist, had a nice flow. Surprised that the 2-3 songs from Death have been dropped from setlist, and nothing from PAT. Those were all really good live in '17/'18.
Merch was pretty thin, unless you're into the uber ltd pricey handmade Melvins LPs. I don't care to purchase any of that. I wanted the new Bullhead shirt, but they were out of XLs. There was one XL Melvins/ReddKross tour shirt left. I let someone else get it. I just grabbed the tour CD, and the new Conan Neutron/Dale Crover Band split 10", for 10 bucks. DCB plays a Who medley. =D>
