Title: MELVINS HANGOVER
Post by: Smellis on November 06, 2005, 04:23:53 PM
I've heard it said before that the day after a show, after the Melvins have left your town, and there's no hope of seeing them until next time; you sort of go into a funk for a day. It's like your best piece of poon just up and died. CRAP, gotta' wait for the Melvins Big Biz tour; however long that's gonna' take. I was at last night's show, running on next to no sleep now 'cause I was up with my kids. Now hair of the dog and ALTAMONT The Monkeys Uncle pegged at max volume. Damn that is the best CD I've heard in a long time. Kind of mainstream compared with Melvins, but shit does it sound good. Nice and heavy on some parts.   :)

I know the feeling, bro. Last time I saw the Melvins was 9-12-04 at the Grog Shop - Cleveland. Sucks they didn't play near me this year. Got to see Hank III twice this past weekend, Buffalo on Halloween and Rochester two nights before that. That was some insane shit, Assjack just destroys. Damn right, Monkee's Uncle rocks. We need an Altamont/PORN tour to hold us over before the Melvins hit the road again.

I'd love to have a Melvins hangover.

I hear ya recess.         west coasters are spoiled.  I got a bad location in DETROIT. it's out of the way any way you slice it.
according to BUZZ himself, detroit is MELVINS second favorite place to play, yet we only get hit once a year at best.    it must be ROUGH to be in europe, south america etc. and get a show rarely, if ever.
almost got my fix this year by hoping a plane to seattle until personal issues nixed that idea.   I came THAT close.   now us midwesters got fucked on the JELVINS tour and probably looking at late 06 tell we get another go-round.
how's THAT for a hangover?

Same here, but that was quite the awesome show.

Ya'know, I wouldn't neccessarily say hangover, but I was at the Neumo's show and my ears didn't stop ringing until Friday (not that I really minded).  I guess I could consider it a 36 hour DSS intro, yeah that's it.

i was at that show too.  that's one thing i love about the Melvins.  they play LOUD.  i think that show left permanent damage on my hearing (it's already real bad).

as for Melvins hangover...goddamn.  i got beat up by a girl at the show, got completely trashed and was covered in blood by the time i got home (this last one happened on the way home mind you).  yeah.  i was fiending for Melvins the next day, i forgot a good portion of the show i was too trashed.  that and the girl was beating the shit out of me during "let it all be".  i wish i could remember the 2nd half of that!  oh well.  i still had a blast - even though i might owe my work a couple hundred dollars.

Yeah, when I talked with you after the show you had scratches on your face and it looked like you were in a cat fight. And I might add, you had that look in your eye that my friends tell me I get when I have gone over the top with the booze. Not that there's anything wrong with that!  8) The gut bombs at your place of employment kicked ass. I didn't say anything about you to them, and I scarfed my grub on the stainless counter back from the counter that you order from. Damn tasty. Where were you standing during the show Rhett?

i was towards the center of the stage close to the front.  there was one person in front of me, so i had a pretty good view.  where were you at Smellis?  i ran into the Reaper at the Bad Juju...

you know what the funny thing is?

...i went by my work to say hi to one of my friends on the way home.  went up to the glass went to bang on it and broke one of those whole sheets!  i thought those scratches on my face were from the glass, i guess not.

that bitch was slugging me in the face.  i kept asking her what was wrong.  finally two other guys who saw the whole thing told her to stop...she later apologized.  but i didn't do anything!!! i just wanted to know why she was doing this to me.  Melvins fans really are weird.

Yeah Rhett, I was standing in the doorway where the band was coming to and from, right at the stairway to the right side of the stage. I was right in front of Toshi Kasai and David Stone. The big bald bouncer dude was kind enough not to kick my ass when I was creeping next to the stage to check it out and take pics. The staff were all around cool and did not "F" with me, I was relatively sober and they knew I wasn't trouble and just wanted to enjoy the show. It's all about the music "go Melvins!"  :x
