Title: Melvins acoustic.
Post by: (the) Razor on May 22, 2007, 06:09:09 PM
For a new Melvins release...just an acoustic guitar, piano, bass and drums...I don't mean a Melvins MTV unplugged, I mean a whole album of similar stuff to the end of Prig. Wouldn't that be sweet?

I'd love to see an acoustic Melvins album.  Who's with me ?

I don't know about a whole album but more songs of that style I'm with you there.
A predominately chill album with some loud songs as accents.

I believe there's an instore show that's acoustic......I might be wrong.  But that's probably as close as we'll get for an acoustic release.

I don't think Buzz ever touched an acoustic guitar.

He doesn't even allow them in a 5 mile radius of him. The acoustic guitar in Prig was actually played by Leif Garrett then the tapes were posted to the studio. Fact.

I call that ironic since Buzz is a big Buck Owens fan.

This was sort of already done.
Yes - it's an electric guitar, but if you listen closely you can tell that there is no distortion on "the Bootlicker".
Both guitar and bass were plugged directly into the board with no external amps for that one.

Well after all they're an experimental band and judging by their back catalogue it wouldn't be something unexpected (like in my original post...Prig)...even if it was just an EP. I'd listen to it.

I think they'd manage it, with that kind of insincere, sardonic Melvins attitude about their work.

One time Richie tried to remember an occasion where he wasn't in Tim's company. It made him feel lonely and he started to cry. He didn't stop weeping until Tim showed up, gave him a pet on a shoulder, and telling him he would take Richie backstage to a Melvins show if he would stop crying. Not only does Tim Moss look like Jesus, he  is Jesus. To Richie at least.

What does this have to do with acoustic Melvins? Without Tim Moss, Richie could be seen as an acoustic guitar. Together with Tim Moss, he's dynamite.

Is that the "quiet" show that was on the Tora Tora Tora box set? They did a mellow version of Hooch on there, it was still electric guitars and bass, just no distortion and quieter drums and singing.

They also did the 'three sets tour' mid-90s with Mark D.
The shows were billed as 'an evening with the melvins'

The first set was quiet, the 2nd set was noise and the third set was
songs from the Atlantic trilogy of records.
