Melvins Album Discussion / Re: LYSOL
« on: August 22, 2013, 11:15:28 AM »
I got Lysol when it was released. At that time I lived in a room of a house and slept on the floor on a futon matress. I would arrange my speakers next to my head and play it at high volume at night when I went to bed.

Lysol is one of the most perfect pieces of music ever put on CD....

I figured that low-ish volume AmRep-released live 3CD album vs low volume AmRep-released live 4CD album cannot be that much different in price.  :?

Neither compares to my Ipecac box set, though....  :P

I have a copy of Melvins vs Minneapolis that I intend to sell. . . however, what I really want is a copy of Endless Residency. My M vs M is almost mint and I would like something in the same condition.

I think they are probably of more or less equal value, so does anyone want to make a trade?

If you are outside the USA I can ship.... so if you buy either PM or email me.

I have 2 copies of Neither Here Nor There that I intend to sell. Bother are first edition hardcover, signed editions. One is completely new and has never been read (the CD is still sealed in its sleeve). The other is used but is in almost new condition. The only flaws are the ones it came with from the publisher - specifically they used a greasy glue to attach the CD envelope to the inside of the back covers, that ran leaving an oily patch.... but it is not bad.

Here is a photo of the new book:

I forgot to bring the used one with me this morning, but I will try to post it as well tomorrow.... but it looks the same.

Anyway. the deal is that I intend to sell both of these on eBay soon. On one hand, I want a good price, but on the other hand I don't want to pay eBay's and preferably Paypal's fees if I can help and on the third hand I would like to sell these to people within the Themelvins.net community.

So, that's that. Basically I am saying I would like to sell these here first if I can get a reasonable price. I am more interested right now in selling these books, although trades would be considered (I am not interested in vinyl, though). I guess there will be some trust involved here.... but I have been on this forum and the Nerd List for many years, and I am generally trustworthy. I don't know how much interest there is in these books here, nor really what you guys are willing to pay, and I can only base "fair" proices on previous eBay sales of the book.

So post something here if you are interested in one of these books. PM me as well if you want.... but I may not reply until I see if there are any forum responses. I am in the USA, but I can easily ship to other countries since in my business I do it all the time - however I would have to ship using Priority Mail (which is the only way I can ship online with the post office) and the cost is something like $30.00 to Canada and probably around $45.00 to Europe, Australia and most other places. I will ship for free to US zip codes.

After reading that Boris was about his cat, I am wondering how many more Melvins songs are about mundane things like that... filtered through Buzz's genius.

I think A History of Bad Men could also be about cats!  :P

My first was Eggnog.

I heard a radio show where Kurt Cobain was asked to play some favorite bands.... and he played Hog Leg. Next day I went out and found Eggnog. From that song I assumed Melvins was some sort of insane heavy metal band.

Not long after tht I got Ozma and Bullhead.

I am not selling mine.

BTW I thought the AmRep people couldn't spell, but the CD cover is indeed titled "honley!" - I wonder if this s an intentional error or a fuckup?

I assume the video will only be the Howard Stern end of the conversation, right?  :?

Im willing to bet that Stern takes one look at Dale and thinks to himself "...this guy? This is the great drummer whom Grohl idolizes?? You gotta be kidding".

Does Stern know that Grohl "idolizes" Dale?

Exit question: If Dale had to bring one piece of Melvins music to play, what should it be? Smells Like Teen Spirit?   :)

EDIT: If Stern only wants to discuss Kurt, maybe Dale could try something like  "we were in the New Zealand and Japan earthquakes and I got injured"

So they only sold 3,000 copies of "Bride"? That's shockingly low... (not that I had any idea of sales figures of any Melvins album). That would make Melvins.net members a significant market for future releases.... maybe a future special boxed set or whatever should be targeted specifically to us?  :P

:x All the kids with their rocking and a rolling and their rapping and their jiving keep me awake. And my feet hurt!

"Face it. You're 50. You're fakin' it. Your life is proctically over. Get real...  I have listened to the whole Melvins album.  They're quite awful.  I can't dance to it, and I do not understand what they are saying."

I am 48 and Buzz is a couple of years behind me.  Melvins music is perfect for old people.
