Yeah, all the really good stuff is long gone by the time they get to either the Detroit or Grand Rapids show that I go to. Sucks!

Guess what they bring to Europe: Mostly limited to T-shirts and tour posters...

Have you noticed the sleeve is a recycled Maggot sleeve?  :nerd:  Mine have 'MELVINS  *  MAGGOT'  printed on the spine and the pumpkin is still there.

Mine is a recycled Maggot too :)

LOVE Soundtrack
Colossus Of Destiny
Prick
Chicken Switch

Chicken Switch: Not more than 4 times
The Rest: maybe once every three months
Once I left Prick in the CD-Player and forgot about it. When I played it some time later I was surprised what a nice noise album it is until I recognised it is Prick :-D

That guy seems so bitter: He should lighten up so he can tell apart if someone is joking or not. And for the Dave G. story Buzz told I really had to laugh.

I think I have 25 Tribute to with Mackie covers and the X-mas bundle. According to discogs I am still missing 6 of those :-D.
Some of us should play letterpress poker.  :D

Haha!

Nice one, Idle. I haven't got the HAT/22 with the recycled sleeve yet. I still need half a dozen or so of those 2016/2017 letterpress sleeves Mackie was putting the Clown/HAT/Euthanasia/Hesitation Twist singles in to. Scored one more today, back from 2016. I'll get some photos together soon. This lot is from last year.

Oh, it was your collection that Ted posted on the fb Melvins group :-). Nice collection!

Flights from Austin to Dallas Love Field booked. I've made up my mind.

My flight would have been from Berlin, Germany...

Beg to differ about Honky. Lovely Butterflies and Mombius Hibachi are classic Melvins, but not even at the level of Atlantic year classics. They All and Pitfalls and Mouth Breather are anomalous essentials. Grin and Freaktose are fun. Laughing is among their better novelty tunes. But there's still ten to fifteen minutes on this record that just never connected for me.

I still haven't heard anything as unique or creative in the form of a record album by any other band that can touch Honky.

But it's not for everyone, that's also another thing that makes it so special IMHO.

You want to know why it sounds the way it does compared to the Atlantic albums?

they could make a record with an advance for probably between $50,000-$80,000 more or less with Atlantic.

Then apparently a Lawsuit ensued for breach of an evil contract that for sure was intended to ruin them as a band...

I doubt they had much money to record anything after that... they made good use of a low budget production.

I try to get a friend of mine into the Melvins and Honky was the first album that struck her. Althou she likes late Swans and Sunn o))) she did not like Lysol.

Melvins Discussion / Re: Where & when did you first hear The Melvins?

I was still in university. It was Lizzy on maybe 120 Minutes or the German version and had to buy their fresh Houdini album that just came out. One of my favourites after fist listenings was Going Blind with this massive wall of sound they made. I was surprised to find this long backlog and my favourite became Lysol und Eggnogg with their slow and sludgy songs. By then I prefered vinyl over CDs again so I have all the early vinyl releases. Why Lysol? I loved John Zorn‘s Naked City project especially their Leng Tche album. I did not notice their reference to the Melvins in the booklet (CD art work with tiny lettering) but the sound and feeling is similar. Still like the Melvins but for me their killer songs became less over time. But hell yeah, they are still great and live they still rule.
