It's a good thing they're covering that Beatles song because those guys were the "worst musicians ever"
Just imagine what Quincy Jones would say about Melvins!!

Interviewer: So, what do you think of the Melvins?

QJ: The Melvins? Nice guys. They helped faked the moon landing with Stevie Wonder. Gene Krupa taught them everything they know after he shot the governor of Mississippi and had to get plastic surgery to change his face. He was laying low. Say, do you like Brazilian music?

Great to see Rutmanis back on stage with the Melvins even if only for one song. Until tonight I hadn't known this had happened and last night for some strange reason Melvins & Rutmanis popped into my head and I thought it's a bit sad going through all these different bass players in recent years and being back on good terms with him that they've never let him do a live show with them again let alone a tour and then 24 hours later find out this news  :)

I love that they still have a good relationship with Rutmanis and Mike Dillard. I wish wish wish wish the same were true with Joe, Lori, Matt and Mark - but you know, those days are so far in the past and everyone was younger then. I mean, I have an ex-bandmate that I will never ever talk to again (now a somewhat hip producer on the alternative and doom scenes), I really respect his work and thinks he is amazing at his craft. But as a human? Fuck that pile of shit. So with that, I can totally understand relationships souring.

I don't think there is bad blood with Mark. I listened to a podcast with Mark recently and he was happy to talk about them and the time he spent with them.

Fresno. Last year. I'm young, I know.

Overall it was very fun. I have a feeling The Melvins themselves didn't enjoy the show though. It was in the middle of nowhere and drunk idiots thought they owned the stage.

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE let Kevin rejoin the Melvins on six string slide bass. I miss his presence and his noise.

We can only hope.

Hung Bunny and Charmicarmicat are more menacing, foreboding and terror inducing than Euthanasia if you ask me.

Cheers for this Jules.

We should start a petition for Marc Maron to have Buzz on. How has that not happened yet?
I'd be interested to know if Maron ever reached out - I doubt Buzz is one to turn down an interview.

I have emailed Marc Maron about this. I never heard back. Buzz on the Marc Maron show would be amazing!!!

That would be fantastic. I've always been a big fan of Marc. I could listen to Marc and Buzz talk all day.

5. Night Goat (7" Version)

Melvins Discussion / Re: Melvins in 2018

I hope they come to Fresno again!!! Being able to see the band after three years of endlessly reading and listening to anything that had their name on it is easily in my top ten life experiences.

The funniest part about the whole experience is that my dad told me about how you can usually meet the band behind the venue before the show, and even though I thought the idea was a little weird at the time, I decided I'd go through with it, because it may be my only chance! We drove around a bit and checked behind the venue here and there, but had no luck. I was sort of bummed, but I didn't have high expectations, so I decided that me and my dad should just check out the nearby record shops or grab a bite to eat before we got in line. As we drove away, out of the corner of my eye I saw the unmistakable hair of the man himself, Buzzo, walking into a Mexican restaurant about five or six buildings down from the venue. Out of shock and excitement I uttered the most butchered sounding "Oh my gosh!" you'd ever heard. My dad asked if I wanted to go and meet them but I felt like I might bother them if I were to intrude on their meal. My dad told me they would probably be waiting for their food by the time we pulled over and got in there and it would be no trouble, so I had no choice but to agree. I walked into the restaurant, which was small and empty, so it was me, my dad, Buzz, Dale and Steve. I asked my dad what I should say and he said "just go for it!" I got nervous and did probably the worst thing I could do in that moment, I said "Hey... Buzz!" He turned around, clearly confused as to where the mysterious voice was coming from, but as soon as he turned around, he greeted me with a warm smile and stuck his hand out. I told him I was a big fan and he asked if I was coming to see the show that night. I said yes and thanked him for all the great music. I was so nervous at that point that I just ended the conversation there and didn't even get a chance to speak to Dale, the man who inspired me to pull out my fathers dusty old drum set and go to town. We walked out of the restaurant and checked out a few record shops, then I met up with my buddies and waited in line while my dad had a few drinks in the bar one building over. It was a great show despite an obviously drunk woman getting pulled out of the venue right next to me, and some idiot running up on stage and tripping over Steve's mic. I was right up front and directly below Buzz. To give an idea of how close I was, I felt the sweat from his hand hit my face a few times.

Ziegler strikes again - the man is unearthing some sparsely documented eras of the band. We should buy him something.

These interviews are addicting! Buzz is very wise and always has a lot to say but never takes himself too seriously. Very inspiring.
