Melvins Discussion / Melvins in Europe Fall 2011
July 15, 2011, 03:00:20 AM
... or Denmark, anyway.

They're playing Copenhagen on October 17th.

Quite often I see GPT on vinyl for sale on ebay - and the sellers usually claim that their copy is the "original pressing".

Well, over the years I've been fortunate to own several copies of GPT on vinyl - but the first copy I bought was from a friend of mine who purchased the album when it came out and it is quite different from the copies I usually see for sale on ebay.

Major differences from my copy (which I consider to be "original pressing") includes:
- there's no track listing
- Matt and Buzz' names have been switched
- the sleeve is matt cardboard where later pressings have glossy sleeves
- the letters 'MPO' are engraved in the vinyl on side A - on later pressings these have been overwritten.

So beware when you buy "original pressings" of GPT. They might not be!

Melvins Show Reviews / Unknown song
April 13, 2007, 04:58:08 PM
At the Copenhagen show I got hold of both Melvins and Big Business setlists..... and a lyric sheet for a song I can't recognize. No idea if it's Melvins, Big Business or Porn.

The lyrics go:

We all undone
I thought I could see
They listen to the words
They live upon the earth

The thought made man
And you're so crazy
And with it they were saved
The other side of Love

We all undone
Somewhere no one
As soon as it was born
Devoured where he stood

The lamb will live
And I got rabies
We're staring at the sun
As many as I love

Clues anybody?

From myspace.com:

Hello,

If you are coming out to the shows in Minneapolis I've made a 3" CDR with 3 solo tracks. There are only 20 and will be given out on a first come first serve basis. Nothing fancy or with Buzz and Dale doing unreleased Cobain songs on it only some solo noise/modular synth tracks on it.

All you have to do is ask me for it.

Thanks,

David Scott Stone

I'd sure like to get hold of one. If anybody picks up a spare I'm in for it!!

Melvins Discussion / Anyone seen this interview?
March 11, 2006, 04:48:18 AM
BUCKSHOT BOYS "s/t" (Chunklet - CHKDVD 002) DVD $14.00
***You can plop a good ol' boy from Alabama in the English countryside, but you sure can't make the Brits understand him when he opens his mouth. That is, until THE BUCKSHOT BOYS showed them what white-tail deer hunting is all about! Cable access television hosts CHUCK B. WEEGAN (aka THE BUCK BUTCHER) and DJ JERRY CLANCY take you on a wild and wooly adventure to the All Tomorrow's Parties festival in Camber Sands, England. Along the way, The Buckshot Boys interview musicians
like THE MELVINS, MOGWAI, SPOON, NEIL HAMBURGER, DEERHOOF, TED LEO, BAD WIZARD, and many others. They also harass the English with Southern charm, backwoods wit, ignorance, venison jerky, bucksnort, and yes, even irony. Watch as grown men try to kill large mammals in a country where it has already been declared illegal. Deer hunting, obscure rock music, and real-life foreigners collide to form a collage of laughs, fun and awkward silence.

Melvins Discussion / DALE IS OUT!!!
July 15, 2005, 05:07:14 AM
Well, not quite. But at least there's apparently another drummer in.

Got this from the SL board:

"...you can congratulate Big Business on their big news, as the local noisy metal duo have been absorbed into the Melvins lineup for a West Coast tour at the end of this summer. That means not only will our own Jared Warren and Coady Willis be opening for the great brain-frying icons, they'll also be playing as part of the band's lineup. Willis tells me the Melvins are in the process of crafting a monster drum kit so he and Dale Crover can create those big-bottomed beats in tandem."

Taken from The Stranger here in Seattle from live gossip column.

Melvins Discussion / Upcoming MELVINS cover
January 03, 2005, 03:07:44 PM
From www.billyanderson.net:

Upcoming projects include: Finishing work on the BTH album-we did two covers ("Hogleg" by the Melvins, and "Fazer" by Quicksand..) and Sean Ingram from Coalesce has added his vocals to both tracks...all that's left to do is mix the two tracks and master the album...Out in March on Goodfellow...

Hogleg is a an excellent choice of cover. Looking forward to hearing that.

... and for those who didn't know, BTH is Billy's band Blessing the Hogs.

Melvins Discussion / Lori
November 09, 2004, 04:44:10 PM
A lot of different reasons has been told about why Lori left/was left out of Melvins. Here's another one, taken from http://www.hardboiledrecords.com/reviews.html:

"This, the first album from their failed three-LP jaunt at Atlantic, features Black and Anderson splitting the bass duties after Black was threatened by her mother, Shirley, that she would be cut out of the inheritance if she didn

Melvins Discussion / Rest of 2004 Tour Dates Cancelled
October 04, 2004, 03:58:51 PM
www.ipecac.com:
We are very sorry to say, but due to an illness in the band the Melvins have cancelled all of their scheduled dates for the rest of the year. We are hoping that the shows will be able to be rescheduled in the future and the band sincerely apologizes for any incvonvenience caused by this unforseen circumstance. Knowing the Melvins like we do, we have no doubt that they will return stronger than ever. Thanks for your support and understanding

Hopefully not serious. Any news/rumours?

Melvins Discussion / Buzz / Coop
September 20, 2004, 04:29:17 PM
Parts with Appeall, the first solo show by Los Angeles artist Coop in nearly five years, continues through this Saturday, September 18. Coop's 78 foot piece (comprised of 6x6 foot acrylic paintings) surround the gallery walls, enveloping the viewer into a dialogue between his re-constructed, and essential, fragmented images. Also on view are a series of corresponding black-and-white drawings. There is also a featured soundtrack composed by Buzz Osbourne of the Melvins. The exhibition has been sold however the Parts with Appeal show print is available exclusively through Coopstuff.com.

Melvins Discussion / Merch on current tour question
September 05, 2004, 03:55:06 AM
http://www.gigposters.com/phpBB/viewtopic.php?t=22879&start=0&postdays=0&postorder=asc&highlight=&sid=13d3df6b22b31b4d8fae154c80318f7c

Is this booklet available on the current tour? Looks amazing! Would sure like to get hold of a copy. But living in Denmark it's damn hard to get hold of just about EVERYTHING.... well, except tall blonde girls, weed, dope, booze (from the age of 15!)... really, it's not that bad. But getting hold of MELVINS merch is damn near IMPOSSIBLE!
Anybody stateside wants to lend a fellow MELVINS fan a helping hand and help me get hold of this?!?!?

Melvins Discussion / Discography question
July 19, 2004, 01:26:01 PM
According to K Records founder Calvin Johnson the MELVINS were on two early K Records compilation tapes: Let's Together and Let's Kiss.
The track from the first tape was included on the CD with the book, but what was the track on the second tape?

Melvins Discussion / Fan Club video
June 03, 2004, 02:58:02 AM
Isn't it strange? In all my years as a collector (and yes: I'm a completist!) I've never even SEEN a copy of the Fan Club video. And I was even a member of the fan club.

And now this guy at ebay has had 4 copies for sale within the last month!!! Where they ever released by the fan club or is this some kind of counterfeit?
