Melvins hit the stage about 9:15pm. Same exact set as NYE, BUT with the Melvins sounding PROPERLY LOUD. You know that type of volume and fullness you get from a theater's PA system versus a small clubs sound. The band was on FIRE! Sleep were loud and fucking sloppy as Hell. Why they would dare follow the Melvins I will never know. I used to love Sleep back when I bought Volume One and Holy Mountain back in the early nineties. Those records and songs were great. But live, I am not sure if they know that when you go to band practice, at some point, you need to put down the bong and pick up your axe. Left maybe halfway through their set.

Earlier that day I saw Queen with Adam Lambert play on the Late Late Show with James Corden. I was in the audience a few good friends of mine play in the Late Late Show band. I can say this without any reservation - ADAM LAMBERT SLAYED SLEEP.

Melvins Show Reviews / Melvins @ Continental Room 03/23/16
« on: March 24, 2016, 08:51:11 PM »
Free show at the tiny little place called The Continental Room. Went with Jules and my drummer Paul Alexander (who is a member here but cannot remember his username as he hasn't logged in in years!). Hung out some more with Der L and his friend Liza. Got to hang with Homeless Dad too.

Caught the soundcheck - soundcheck ruled. I have never seen the Melvins on such a tiny stage! It was INTIMATE. The venue was packed - the Melvins destroyed! The energy in the room was so insane that my old ass could only hang in front of the stage for three songs before I remembered that I am way too old to be "caught in the mosh!" If only I were still in my 20s or even 30s I could have done the whole set.

Same setlist of course. And a great setlist it is.

Had a great fucking time rocking out to the Melvins with Jules and also meeting Der L! Having people from across the pond getting their Melvins on in the desert was great!

As a major Redd Kross freak, of course I knew I would love this line-up and in fact, I may even be biased because of that (probably!) so this of course was one of my favorite Melvins shows ever at one of my favorite venues ever!!!!

You all probably know the drill on the setlist by now - it is a great one!!!

Melvins Discussion / Greg Gutfeld / The Melvins / Fox News

Sitting in my hotel room watching "The Five" on Fox News (keep your enemies closer). Greg Gutfeld who invites Buzz onto his shows when he can is obviously choosing the "bumper music" as the goes into and comes out of commercials. Coming back from a commercial and into a segment on Planned Parenthood - "Let Me Roll It" from Freak Puke was used as the bumper music.

Melvins Discussion / The Next Melvins Collaboration Should Be....
« on: October 18, 2014, 12:26:52 PM »
The Melvins have a great history of collaborating with other artists. Jello Biafra, Pat Fear, Lustmord, The Crybaby, Sausages, swallowing up Big Business into the lineup etc. and now Hold It In.

As there are no rules in the world of the Melvins and really, anything is possible...who would you like to see them collaborate with next?

I am hoping for Redd Kross. Jeff McDonald and King Buzzo on guitars, Steven McDonald on bass and Dale on drums. Vocals of course by everyone! Man...this one seems like a no-brainer to me!!!

Hey gang. I saw something today that I thought was kinda fucked up. I went in to Vacation Records on Sunset in Los Angeles today to take a gander - and on the wall I saw a copy of "Stoner Witch" on vinyl with a little yellow sticker that said "Bootleg Copy". Now, I can understand a store selling a bootleg without realizing they were, but this seems kinda shitty to me.

What should I do?

Melvins Discussion / cannot believe

I simply cannot believe that there is really a DEBATE about Metallica vs. Melvins here:

Good reading for a good laugh.

BTW - the mimicry board is pretty cool.

Damn. I really, really, really hope this becomes a living breathing version of the Melvins that will always be around. Same set list as San Diego. The addition of Trevor Dunn on upright bass added an element of depth and intensity that I have never seen the Melvins possess before. A perfect combination of Heavy Metal, New Wave and Psychedelia. I have seen every line up of Melvins with the exception of Joe P and I would without a doubt say that this very lineup is THE definitive lineup. Nice small crowd too. Perfect show in every way.
