I was watching one of the greatest sci-fi films ever last night on TCM, "Forbidden Planet" (RIP Anne Francis) - which I've seen several times thru the years (and just scored on Blu-Ray also) - and was quite surprised during a scene towards the end where the doctor dies as a result of subjecting himself to the Krell mind-boost machine - Walter Pigeon's character, Morbius, yells "The Fool, The Meddling Idiot!"

Thus was born the origin of the song title, I suspect.

I posted this a few days back, under updates to Melvins covers - haven't received any feedback - anybody mention/discuss that Melvins have been covering Cream's excellent "Deserted Cities of The Heart" lately? It's the "DCH" portion of "Set Me Straight" on "A History of Gluttony & Lust"..talk amongst yourselves...or maybe we wanna keep a low profile for fear of a Clapton freak-out lawsuit or something?? (haha...heck...he didn't write it anyway) - It is a kick-ass version, nonetheless, and another fine addition to the unique covers the boys have a penchant for dusting off & setting a fire to!

Melvins Discussion / Melvins Haiku
December 28, 2005, 12:23:28 PM
I was on a haiku binge a while back....wrote this one for the boyz...thought it might be funny to invite contributions here...as far as I recall, a haiku must consist of three lines, using the 5-7-5 syllables per line formula.....(i think as long as the total syllables are 17, the line order doesn't matter...in other words, it can be 5-7-5, 7-5-5, 5-5-,7, etc.)
here's mine:

I saw The Melvins,
All thunder & molasses,
with very few peers.

Have fun! And a Nappy Ewe Ear too All!

Melvins Discussion / Giving Thanks
November 23, 2005, 03:04:27 PM
Is this corny? Quite possibly....but nonetheless...at this particular time of the year, I just wanted to take a moment to give (post? haha) thanks to Brian for maintaining what in my opinion has to be one of the finest, most comprehensive fan-based sites on the planet...thanks to all the moderators (you know who you are) who do such a fine job, and are always insightful &  eloquent  (even when dealing with the L. Ramones of the world), thanks to all the fans who share their thoughts here, and thanks, of course, first & foremost,  to Buzzo  & Dale & (insert bassist name here)  for keeping it real, interesting, loud & wonderful...happy thanxgiving all...gobble, gobble, woof, woof.................enjoy!
