Melvins Discussion / Re: Melvins Videos Thread (and much more)

Seems to be the only new addition to the setlist on this leg.

I wonder why they don't switch it up more often - Steve is versatile and there is so much unexplored music from the 2010s alone.

they added At a Crawl&Halo of Flies too

Halo has been rotating in the set since 2015, At a Crawl since 2018

By "switching it up" I really mean digging into some material they haven't played live before or haven't played in ages. For example, as much as I love The Bit and Night Goat, I wouldn't mind giving those a rest to make way for something different.

Agreed, this would be a cool release let alone for the sake of preservation.

I think the mix could use some more work though, it sounds good but I never enjoyed the dead backdrop and cheap drum reverb that often buries the guitars. It's beautifully shot and if the audio matched that, take my money.

many people on here seem to hate Tool but you can tell on this board there have been more discussion about Tool lately  than about Melvins

THIS.

Word. My guess is because currently both bands could use about 10% of the other's work ethic. TOOL could loosen up a little and Melvins could sit with an album for a bit longer sometimes.

I'd love to see Billy Fish and The Brain Center At Whipples in the setlist. Those (and tons more deep cuts) would work great with Steve

YES. especially The Brain Center At Whipples. such a brilliant song.

I don't think they played it live since the HAT tour?

That's right. Might be because Kevin has a writing credit on that song (my guess is that he is responsible for that bonkers middle section) but now that things are patched up, who knows?

Similarly underrated and would also rip with Steve: Buck Owens

That mini tour was truly great, also included the only performance of Pitfalls I know of

That squeaking woman in the crowd can be heard across so many California recordings, she haunts me

Freak Puke was and is one of my personal favorites from the last 10 years. And the shows from that tour were very very special (Including ending each one with the Definitive mind blowing version of Shevil) Trevor Dunn is a monster of talent and creativity.

I find myself saying this over and over, but what makes Melvins great is their constant willingness to try new things, take chances and change. I'd be thrilled for more of that lineup to surface, They supposedly recorded a ton of material when they made that record.

I'll just leave this here

Not much to add here but FUCK yes.
