looks like its going to be a MELVINS CHRISTMAS. I cannot imagine a Holiday season without Melvins at GAMH or Slims.....Even tho Buzz has yet to appear wearing a diaper at midnight, or even a santa's cap, these are always good shows. Wonder if Trevor will be around?
He will prob be on break I imaginge,,,,,Alfunso

Melvins Discussion / Re: 13 Sept - Dale interview - Omaha, NE

My god, this has got to be the most boring whitebread newspaper interview so far,  what do these reporters live on? Cheerios? Omaha is the center of our strategic defense, a 1000
war heads pionted in every direction all controlled by a guy with his finger on the switch and all this guy can think of to ask is "1983, oh that was by the 1983 lineup, good title I guess.."
gimme a break,,,,alfunso

1.Great White Buffullo (or whatever its called, from Double Live Gonzo) where Ted Nugent sings about "they [the Indians] needed skins for a roof" with a lyric like that its unforgettable--by Ted Nugent

2. Dream Police by Cheap Trick, but done really slow and heavy.

Yeah, I have been pondering this gig myself. I have a theory that Trevor Dunn may be busy with other projects and for some reason can't make this gig. It is odd that this show is not part of the 51/50 tour, but sits listed all by itself on the tour page.
Merch Mavens: any idea if there will be an avalanche of new merch at this gig ?, or will the 51/50 merch only show up later in the month? on the offical 51/50 dates?
I may try to make it to Sucramento in any case,,alfunso

Silly question, I know, how fun would it be to pull up to the Melvins show in exotic locales like
Caspar WY? I am studying the map and seeing what dates look good,,,alfunso

That is very nice. I like it.

The juciest bit so far (around page 127) has Buzz and Dale hanging out with Shirley Temple. Shirley tap dances for them, and makes a statement to the effect that tap dancing could be likened to a "form of percussion"[sic].  Buzz: "it was David Lynch weird."  And then this by Frank Kozik (poster artist; video director)
"I remember when I first got a hold of the Melvins OZMA record, and I was like, "This band is fucking brutal!" and they came to play at this tiny club in Austin called Cave Club, and I did this shitty black and white xerox for it. I'd never seen a picture of them. Buzz comes out, and he has this huge hairdoo, and I was like, "What the fuck, who is this faggot-looking dude? What is this the opening band?" He looks like some reject guy from the Cure or something. But it was him, and they rocked, and I was blown away."
[the scumbag does not include set list, can you imagine?]

Melvins Show Reviews / Re: GAMH April 12, 2012!! Melvins/Unsane
« on: April 13, 2012, 02:33:16 AM »
It was a dark and stormy night. UNSANE was barely tolerated by an audience of texting and smart phone browsing spectators who barely looked up from their tiny little screens to notice the post rock icons. They should have pried thier cuticles away from their soft machines long enuff to notice Cody and Dale whale and snort. It was some of the best percussion of the night, it sounded fresh and raw. and under rehearsed. They filled in when the UNSANE drummer had to be hospitalized. (unsure what happened)
The Melvins started out with songs from thier last studio record, Buzz had a giant fan blowing his shaggy locks mythic shapes. He came off as a mythic wanderer from inside a Led Zip album cover, as a mystic all knowing rock god, with a magic hammer wandering down a hillside full of rocks.
And so they rocked on. the show was alright. the sound was a bit of a problem, Buzz seemed buried in the mix.

I called the Box office at GAMH last week, and talked to someone who told me she had no knowledge of the show..alfunso

Usually there are shows in San Francisco, Seattle, Portland, etc or will they be too wiped after the long tour in Europe to get out of bed?  any theories? rumors? upcoming dates? thanks ,,,,Alfunso

I am totally blanking on what album I bought first, (?) I do remember the first time I saw the Melvins, it was at a Ipecac showcase with bands like ISIS, Mike Patton, Dillinger Escape Plan, ...and then the Melvins came on to close the show, I thought..this  Buzz fellow is mighty impressive on guitar...yes.. this is what fun sounds like,,,,or something,,,,Alfunso
