Quote from: ))))(((( on February 24, 2024, 08:46:17 AMI'm not sure if to be concerned or not that Buzz says he wants to do at least 2 more Melvins albums. He made it sound like that could be it then.

I've been thinking post-Covid we might be seeing the winding down of the Melvins. They used to rarely do support tours but since pandemic ended they've been supporting Ministry and now Mr. Bungle a couple of times so easier money not having to worry about attendance, advertising etc and obviously Dale's back problems have now caught right up with him which will likely reduce Melvins touring work load going forward. For Buzz it probably means more solo touring and touring with Trevor.

I'm a bit surprised they still haven't announced any shows yet to promote the new album when that comes out in April. In saying that there is still a big gap between the Melvins Japan shows ending in March and the Buzz/Dunn tour starting in August which you would think would be at least one NA tour in there somewhere.

I must've missed that news too thanks rimb.

Re: Working the Ditch I think the song is alright but I've always had a bug bear about bands video clips mimicking the title of the song. I just would've preferred the video being anything other than literally digging ditches.

Sounds like Dale is well enough to play and tour but won't be in Australia due to how early they had to apply for visas (per latest Vinyl Guide podcast interview).

What about the Melvins headline shows in Japan after that where they're playing Bad Mood Rising in full?

Still crossing my fingers BMR gets added to Bandcamp one day so I can finally get it.

In this Mr. Bungle interview Trevor Dunn mentions a bit about his tour with Buzz later this year:

QuoteComparing the 5 dates of this Australian tour to the 45 US shows Dunn will be playing on an upcoming acoustic tour with Melvins frontman Buzz Osborne to support their 2020 collaboration 'Gift Of Sacrifice', Trevor describes the latter as "gruelling".

"We're gonna be in a van, there's only gonna be three people; it's gonna be me and Buzz, and we're gonna have one crew guy with us. I'm psyching myself for it already, 'cause it's gonna be long and hard, and I'm playing upright bass, which is physically much more challenging for me.

"Mr. Bungle is kind of at this level now where we're staying in nice hotels and we've got a five-person crew. It's cush as it's ever been for us, which is great."

At my local deli growing up the owner had a fucked voice so we would call his shop Throats, "hey mum we're just going down to Throats to get some lollies". Even she used to call his shop Throats, his mixed lollies were the shit. He ended up dying from throat cancer.

I do not know the functionality of Bandcamp.  Once purchased, can tracks be downloaded?

Yes and I also do so immediately in case of temperamental artists like this. Sometimes the artist just 'hides' the release making it private in your account but still able to be downloaded by you the purchaser any time in the future but some artists remove their stuff entirely so even if you bought it it's now gone.

I don't know if Deutrom makes his releases 'private' or deletes them entirely but the artists that do completely delete them after purchasing don't get repeat business from me.

That probably suggests Dale likely won't be drumming on the Australian tour then.

Technically this should be in a 2024 thread, but i wonder if we will get any news or a new song released on New Years Day?? Remember 1st Jan this year they dropped Never Say You're Sorry.

Bad Mood Rising came out in Aug/Sep 2022.

Surely you pronounce it 'cretins' like us, not 'creetins' like the interviewer?

Americans pronounce it 'creetins', unlike us who respect the Queen's English ;)
