Yeah plus he played on the Fecal Matter demo's 1985/88 - recorded at Cobain's aunts'/their bedrooms:

1985 (Dale on drums/backing vocals):
Sound of Dentage
Bambi Slaughter
Laminated Effect
Buffy's Pregnant
Spank Thru
Suicide Samurai

1988 (Dale on bass):
Bambi Kill/Bambi Slaughter
Clean Up Before She Comes
Beans (& Wine)

Then he also played drums on the very first recording of "Drain You" - Cobain, Dave Grohl (playing bass) and Dale did a demo at their practise space under the name The Retards.

Amen to that.
If anyone wants to trade/post these songs I'm sure it'll be VERY much appreciated by a lot of us non-American Melvins lovers...

ok, everyone knows that dale crover was nirvana's first drummer back in 1988 or something and that they recorded at least 6 songs together including:

paper cuts
floyd the barber
mexican seafood
hairspray queen

ok, so my question IS: did the versions with dale on drums make it onto the official releases of bleach & incesticide or were these 6 songs re-recorded with the new drummers [chad... dave] for the albums?

Yes indeed, the original versions with Dale drumming are on those records.

Green Honey - That must have been very very sweet, getting to see the melvins twice on their way through UK and EU.  Hope you enjoyed it.  We here on the West Coast are getting "ready" for a little mini-tour, that just keeps growing, at any rate Were those 2 shows last year the first chance for you to see the Melvins?[/quote
Last time they came here was 2001, I was going to go but foolishly ended up missing it. So the Geek Tour was my first live Melvins experience. It was good, even though it was somewhat dominated by Tomahawk...but I've liked Mike Patton and John Stanier for just as long as the Melvins so seeing them was worthwhile even if I don't find Tomahawk to be nearly as good as they ought to be.

Melvins Discussion / Did you like the melvins the first time?
« on: February 17, 2004, 02:35:57 PM »
I heard of them before I actually heard them, back when Prick first came out. I remember being very eager to hear it because they seemed like what I was looking for in a band. Interesting. First time I heard them was late 1993/early '94 when I was a 12 year old Aerosmith fan, I saw "Hooch" on Beavis & Butt-Head and was blissfully mesmerised.
I didn't get round to buying any of their stuff for a few years though for lack of money, but during this time I got to see and videotape the Queen video on late night British TV, which I watched regularly until I got round to buying my first Melvins record: Stoner Witch when I was 16. That was soon followed by Honky, Lysol, and the rest.
As is sadly the case, they don't play very often here in the UK, apart from last year when I got to see them not once but twice in the space of 4 months! Plus I got to meet Kevin briefly before the live soundtrack show in Liverpool.

Can anyone upload the video and song which were on the VC website? I forgot to do it myself and now it seems they've been taken down (d'oh).

Melvins Discussion / melvins song???
« on: January 07, 2004, 11:50:14 AM »
very belated edit:
cobain didn't write sky pup or i like porn, the melvins did.
as for the lyrics, buzz wrote the ones for sky pup.
kurt recited poetry over the original, instrumental versions of these and other (unknown) songs at a show in 1985.

according to Enrique's melvins site, both 'i like porn' and 'sky pup' are brown cow/towel songs. (they were played during a show in 1985 - this is where cobain did his first live performance, aged 18, reciting poetry while buzz and dale jammed)

Melvins Discussion / blue cheer/eye flys connection

Melvins have played Blue Cheer's "Parchment Farm" live before. I don't know about any BC songs sounding like Eye Flys though
