Melvins Discussion / Re: Melvins With Steven McDonald On Bass

I'm a full on Steven convert after the past few years. I agree that the auto phaser squelch was a mis-step but I think he has moved on from that. The first track on "Death" still rules, though, and I think it had that effect.

The production value was good.

I thought the interview questions were sort of generic... Like arents these mostly the questions you'd hear over and over from random rock journalists? But then the stories went to new places.

I really liked the Void Manes section. That was probably the most unexpected and menacing section.

This was probably my favorite version of Evil New War God.

Kicking Machine and Anaconda and Honey Bucket are songs I always want to see in concert, but seeing it on the small screen it was way less engaging than in a loud club. I hope they venture further into the catalog on future streams.

All in all, well worth the price of admission for me. Dale looks healthy as fuck on the kit. I hope he's not just hiding agony.

What the fuck is that truck? Looks like it's done in crayon

Exactly. Dale is a capable guitar/singer/bassist/percussionist and we know Coady has at least four album's worth of material in the noggin. Shit, I'd take Dale on guitar and Buzz on synth for an album/tour cycle. They've always been on the precipice of Throbbing Gristle-doing-metal-and-punk.

Yes, sorry, Sylvia Massey.

I would LOVE for any of that Cynthia Massey stuff to come out. Maybe it was just a single song session but I have a hard time believing they didn't at least sound check a few tunes.

Melvins Album Discussion / Re: A Walk With Love and Death

I don't think these are two separate projects packages together strictly because one is more commercially viable than the other. I think they go together. It's almost like Zaireeka. I listen to DEATH knowing LOVE is coming and vice versa.

Never heard of this before!

Melvins Discussion / Re: MELVINS - WORKING WITH GOD (NEW ALBUM!!!!!!!)

I'm sure it'll be a divisive one but I love "Fuck Around" as far as arrangement and performance. I also loved "Stop Moving to Florida" so there you go, I guess.

Also a bit interesting that we're nine pages deep on the "Mullet" thread and two days on this one, but homepage has no new announcement since White Lazy Boy.

I really dig this tune. The video was fun. Super excited for the record.

How I'd love to get updated versions of Sawed Off and the Love Canal single.

I sometimes fantasize about a gluttony/residency style live record where they just play this rare stuff. Pigskin/Starve would be awesome with Steven.

Sort of a volume drop in the verses, but more like a loss of high end definition and a sloshy sound overall

I'm listening to the CD. The verses of "Fuck Around" and the main riff of "Bouncing Rick" have a sound that I can only describe as 'low bitrate encoding.'

I also heard this on the Bandcamp for the Working With God album and ignored it as just low bitrate encoding.

Anyone else?
