Might be my favorite live rendition of AMAZON. Steven adding texture without distracting from the riff. The pace is intense.

Dale looks good. Healthy slamming on the hard sticks, fingerless gloves. Hope his spine is feeling good.

Hopefully you finally get it, Ian. This is fierce!

It's an epic linear song with about a dozen parts and all of them rock. Not much else to say. Surely Alice Cooper and the team were taking some cues from The Who's "A Long One"

Just had a Google to see how old the Coven singer is. 71 years old!!!! WTF!!! She looks about 50!

Nice hearing a septegenarian woman wailing "burn, mother fucker, burn!"

Melvins have a pretty good history with these things. I was just thinking how much I'd love an AmRep vinyl + cheapy CD of House of Strombo + Jam in the Van

So far the Vans stream is pretty reliable and the sound is good!

I saw them do "Hung Bunny/Roman Dog Bird" in maybe 2018 with Steven and those chant lyrics were not there yet. The chant lyrics are present on the Melvins TV/Livestream Obscene performance, though I'm not sure if that's significantly different.

I know what you mean. There's that cool instrumental bit on Nude With Boots that precedes "Suicide". I always thought of it like the bluegrass equivalent of the intro to "Honey Bucket". But the Melvins don't seem to see it that way. Often "Suicide" is played live without this intro part, and occasionally I think the intro was played live on its own, long before. My recollection is hazy xxl.

It is one of my few petty complaints about Five Legged Dog. I consider that intro integral to the song. Like the HB intro, it is short, furious, and meticulously arranged and rehearsed. It makes the relatively straightforward song that follows enjoy a sort of pocket.

These are some of the most melodic songs in the 30 year+ back catalog! "Up the Dumper," "Billy Fish," "Civilized Worm," "Revolve." Most of them aren't even linear, they some semblance of verse and chorus!

Oh well, you can't please 'em all.

I never anyone talk about "Caped Crusader." I dig that arrangement. Another one I think they could do live with Steven hollering.

I think the second half of this album is a bit stronger than the first. Interesting those are the songs that ended up in alt versions on Sieg Howdy. "Plethysmograph" sounds like a word you'd find in a list of 'words songwriters should avoid' and yelling about Yuppies is a bit cliche. I really dig the style of the songs, though, pretty straight protopunk.
