Melvins Discussion / Take a ride on MELVINS DR.
« on: January 15, 2009, 09:22:49 AM »
I was riding shotty on the way to a gig in rural as(s)-fuck Appalachia, when I saw it.  A green, over-sized sign:

"ROGER OSBORNE RD."  or creek or something backwoods maybe.

I wish I had a fucking camera.  It's near Bim, WV.  Hell, I'd like to have a photo of the Bim sign too.

A pair of Dale's gloves and sticks from the first Big Business tour.  Photos verify authenticity.

Any interesting trades?

I really like the message saved/thank you recordings.
I'd like to hear more stuff like that out of the melvins.

I regret not getting the H.A.T. 7"s even more.
At least I picked up the Trick and Riddles book.

It's one installment of John Zorn's Great Jewish Music series on his label, Tzadik.
The Sean Lennon/Yuka Honda track is great.
And the record is still in stock in the Radical Jewish Culture section.

I tried circuit-bending a couple of those danelectro pedals.  one was green coloured and the other was chorus.  both endeavors were fruitless.  I hate danelectro guitars too.  here's something to keep this thread on topic.  Kevin Rutmanis used a big odd-shaped bass that was gold or green and had sparkles on it.  it sort of looked like a trident or something.  Was that a danelectro bass?

Does anyone know the bass I'm talking about?

oh man, those danelectro pedals are the worst.   the Big Muff is perfect for bass players.

Yeah, he's totally polite and fan-friendly.  I talked to Jeff Attridge for a while too.  He was really nice.   I came back around to where Trey was and he was having a conversation about metaphysics with some guy.  weeed dude.

I drove to Columbus to see the melvins last year and we were very early.  we were stretching our legs outside the venue as two matching vans pulled in.  I could see Buzz's hair from the street through the tinted windows.  I wanted to get my copy of Your Choice Live signed and say hi, but I didn't know if they had just pulled in from the last show or if they had just came back from getting something to eat or whatever.  I didn't want to bother them.  now I wish I had.

but I had a similar experience post-show with Mr. Bungle.  I offered a hand loading road cases and after a few minutes, trey spruance took me aside and thanked me, but said that they had it covered.  so I ended up shooting the shit with danny heifetz about baseball and drinking on willie winant's bottle of wine.

I think it's great.  not the movie, I'm not going to see it.  But the fact that band is getting paid.  more money equals a bigger budget for melvins projects.  I hope they do a sequel.
