Melvins Discussion / Re: Melvins tour dates 2012

Even w/ Sgt. Poopypant's Pizza right there, Magic Stick still isn't as good a venue as Smalls. But really it should be at St. Andrew's.

Are Melvins even playing this date? Says select only. I know the 07/03 - 07/18 shows are Melvins shows ... how many of the others?

I just edited my post. Please see sad face emoticon :(

I like The Stick more than Smalls - mostly because I think the sound is better.
But I agree that St Andrews would be the place to go....

I was excited for a moment...until I decided to cross-check the dates with the Ipecac and Magic Stick site.... Melvins are not on the bill for the Detroit date.

I really think it is time to move to another state. I officially hate this place.

:(

i don't listen to anything prior to the album (i'll leave the room when they play a growing disgust)...
it's not easy though; i am glad i will be away for vacation in a week, so when i return the album should arrive pretty soon...
I'm the same way-I'd rather wait and savor the album as one solid entity. Not easy at all...
I did however, cave with the B&B's EP ....

We were just kidding. All the regulars here know that I'm really a middle aged man disguised as a young woman.

Paul that was a great review. Thanks for posting it.

They dueled for the last few songs
Ahhh. I was confused by how you were wording it. That had to have been an awesome juxtaposition to see. Watching Dale and Coady in unison has been the ultimate highlight of this line-up.  Sorry I had to miss it :(

she's 30 now.    way too old to be doing such in-mature and suggestive things.
You're cruisin for a bruisin

And FYI I'm still at the tender age of 29

none of them play violin or anything,

I am to understand Buzz gets that violin sound by drawing a pencil across his guitar strings much the way one would play a violin.    kinda suprised he didn't do something at least similar live.
Cool!! Now that I would love to see.

PS:  thanks alot for making me even more pissed off they aren't hitting detroit on this tour.  :x
I hear that  :x
Don't worry, Glenda...we'll have our reunion at the LITE show soon enough
But I kinda regret revealing my identy to this place....
I'm sad to report that I'll never be able to safely hump the drum-kit ever again  :(

The woman then said to me "Do you want the set list?" to which I replied "HELL YEAH!" I was very happy, and the woman then seemed to think I didn't appreciate it so I gave her a BIG hug and told her I loved her and some other stuff to that effect.
Hahahaha! Awesome!!

Seething with jealousy but still happy to read your review and hear you had a great time!
MANKY!!

Dale and Coady are troopers for filling in. So they didn't duel for any of the Unsane tracks?
Cool photo. Post one of your poster!!!  :o

And now my review's up:

During this, Warren took the microphone to the front of the stage, making rock star poses and chanting

Did not see Buzz hit one wrong note
I've seen enough evidence in the Melvins Video Thread (and with me very own eyes) to know that Buzzo can slam a guitar around and smoosh it to the ground and it still does everything he wants it to do. Jedi mind tricks....

Real airy and spacious
... nice an' drunk sounding. Those bends are all slurring and stumbling.
Right on. Bootlicker is all around a weirdly-atmospheric-super-sexy album from start to finish.
The track is super slow and isn't afraid to take its time....

What's Buzz singin' bout ???

I ask myself that all the time. I came to the conclusion a while ago that he probably tears words out of newspapers, throws them into a hat and and randomly pulls them out to perfectly make sense with everything else that is going on.
Or not. Either way... I don't really care. The man sure knows how to write a song.

BHM pulls through again! Thanks, pal!!!

Damn. The videographer did a great job of capturing the slow-mo response from the audience. That's me when I see Melvins: in a complete trance, but still rockin hard. THE fucking BIT. One of the best live songs ever performed by hu-mons.

UGH. This makes me so hungry to see them live again.... I'm still super psyched for Melvins Lite but I'm going to miss not seeing them with Coady and Jared.

Also...DALY SAID Melvins.net. AWESOME  8)

"are these to be taken seriously? - wigs?   mumu's?  double breasted petticoats with shoulder ornaments?"

This is to be taken very, very seriously....  :D

Holy shit, did they really play THE BIT?!?!?! WOW! I had to have a friend DVR it for me-hopefully I can pop in there in-between jobs today so I can watch it.

Flutter-that is too funny. My sister said something similar to be once...
