Thank you god for these!  Here's the original song first but man the original, raw demo is so so SO much heavier!  Just replace the 3 "???" question marks in my links with a dot.

Hail Dale!

The Cow cover rules!  I've always wanted to cover that live where it flows into Wispy.  Those songs flow so well together.

Aren't the Melvins lucky to have such horrible fans?  Maybe Dale is creepy.  Did I say Haze was awesome? I mean, He IS awesome!

I'll write some stories when I have had too much coffee.  Just sharing some of their best songs imo until then, and by that I mean some of their songs that I think are their best even though technically all their songs are the best.   8)

Fixed.

Aren't we lucky that despite how horrible some of their fans have been they kept writing anyway?  Maybe they'd actually post here if there weren't so many jerks.  I literally only remember Tom Haze stopping by to kick the creeps out.  He was awesome!  lol!

Have you said your "Hail Dales" 666 times today?  What are your favorite songs?

I'll write some stories when I get the time.  Just sharing some of their best songs imo until then.   8)

Fuck Mark.  He's weak as shit.  If he wasn't he'd still be in The Melvins.  They clearly don't need him.  They've survived despite all the nasty comments.  I wish The Melvins OWN shit fans would take a fucking hike too to be honest.

;)

You don't like his solo stuff?

I'm a fan but don't get this thing of selling Melvins related items.. see Lorax bass too

Oh dude I freaking LOVE his solo stuff.  Just pointing out that both the Melvins AND Mark are weak as shit if they can't function without each other.  Are we lucky we get BOTH?!?!

I don't think I've listened to your cover until a few days ago when it was uploaded to YouTube. I thought it was good! The tribute was 10 years ago though so there's that. It's funny to read about yourself being called out for something I don't remember doing. The only problem I remember there being was a really petty issue with the Lovely Butterfly cover.  But I apologise if that was the case with yours. Peacex

No worries dude!  Hell maybe I even remembered the wrong dude.     I do actually enjoy your cover I was just giving you shit.  Have a good Friday!

The singer reminds me of like Mark motherbaugh or like The B-52's or something, I don't see how there's anything wrong with it as it's in a live setting especially.

That's a good comparison.  I think of him sounding more like a drunker David Yow.

Ok, so now you have to post that Track you submitted, I want to hear it now.

It's the same song that was resubmitted for the 3rd tribute.  Here's the drum cam though.  I have no idea why my drummer uploaded this without the camera angles that captured our creepy singer and our guy dressed as Jean Reno throwing VHS tapes at people.  I guess it makes it weirder not knowing what they're doing out of frame.

I say you can get over it, and jump on the bandwagon now, it's not too late to drop a track.

I'm over it and just joking around.  Hard to tell on a message board but I don't take too much, including myself, very seriously.

Iirc the original tribute fizzled out a bit and then Green Honey rebooted it like 6 months later with all the tracks except my Beara cover of History of Bad Men because he didn't like it.  He didn't bother to tell me either just quietly deleted it and wouldn't add it again when I called him out on it.  Interesting to know it's possible to out weird Melvins fans!     That was kind of the whole point of Beara too.  I felt like there were WAY too many judgemental people in the underground music scene.  I wanted Beara to tap into that final area I hadn't seen art tackle; calling out music fans on their own hypocrisies when it comes to being a non conformist and actually rebelling for real instead of wearing black clothing or whatever hackneyed shit that's been done a million times.  (Black clothing is cool, hypocrisy is not.)

Enter Beara and our History of Bad Men Cover.  The dual drumming is pretty much like the original so nothing too weird there.  But then you get to the fact that there's only bass and no guitar.  You would be amazed over the amount of idiots who think a band just simply can not function without a guitar as if it's the be all end all instrument or something.  That adds to the weirdness.  But you know what I loved the absolute most?  The vocals.  Everything about it is just "wrong".  It feels dirty.  It feels off.  The singer rarely hits any correct notes and he's out of time for half the song.  It also sounds as if a serial killer hijacked a band far more talented than him and refused to let us go unless we play for him.  It honestly puts me in gut laughter every time I hear how "wrong" the performance is.  While the rhythmn section captures the original recording pretty well I think the vocals capture the spirit of the Prick album perfect.  It's a dumb joke that's actually kind of smart if you think about it.

The funny thing is that my cover actually grows on you if you listen to it like 3-5 times.  It's super weird, like The Melvins.  I wonder if Green Honey even sat through it once.     Oh well.  I still think it was a dick move.  How big does ones ego have to be to cut a guy from a fun, free tribute just cause you don't like what they did?  I've had all kinds of people tell me I'm brilliant, that Beara should be signed (and I'd bet money we would be if the other members weren't lazy asshats),  that Beara was better live than signed bands they had paid to see, and it goes on and on.  But honestly there's a certain joy I get in seeing people who take shit too seriously get pissed off.  So....mission accomplished in pissing off Green Honey I suppose?     I assure you I'm not mad though and just find the whole thing funny.

As far as making a new song goes it's just not in the cards for the foreseeable future for many reasons.  My equipment isn't properly set up which is why my vocal cover of Revolve sounded like I was singing very quietly, I was in order to hear myself.  I think my version is neat to hear once but that version doesn't have to end up on the official playlist.  I'm also moving near Detroit very soon!  As you can imagine the majority of my time is going to the move.  Don't you occasionally go to shows there?

But I look forward to hearing more covers!  You guys have kicked ass so far.   8)

He did a fantastic Job hitting notes and getting the delay and layered vocal tracks. It's got a different feel but I still appreciate it.

Green Honeys did a fantastic version, he stood out for me.

Like a weasel he sneakily kicked me off the tribute years ago.  I can't really support his track for that reason!

Maybe the budgets were still high and the prospects were very low since MTV was turning to reality TV but myspace didn't really happen yet.

Accurate.  There's a quote somewhere from Les Claypool about him being really bummed in 1999 that Lacquer Head was banned from Mtv after they spent all this money and time on it.  It's why there were no videos on A.S.N.T.T.A.L.P. or any of his solo albums until about 2007 with Phantom Patriot.

Hard to believe Mtv would ban THAT with all the other trash they show.

Just to keep things Melvins related I've always loved this video:

I've been hoping for years to get a HD version of this video instead of the crappy 240p we've settled for since 2007.

Also, at roughly 1,800,000 views does this song count as a hit?

Crazy to think the Kevin era was the only era that didn't have any music videos, well excluding the earlier years anyway.  The Cows had awesome music videos.

Green Honey's involvement makes it hard for me to enjoy it.

Everyone else did great though!

I wonder if a Melvins+Tool+Jello Biafra album is in the works?  They're all clearly friends.
