Melvins Discussion / Melvins video chat circa 2011
November 24, 2015, 10:49:57 PM
Is there a recording of this? I was a participant. I'd like to watch it if possible?
#5
Haze mentioned it and I was hoping somebody had some inside information or just what format(s) it will be available?

So when they did party what did they do? Dale has eaten "L" I can see it in his eyes, I am imagining also NO2 and herb???  And what are "Butt Drugs" I remember kids plugging xtc back in the late 90's.

My 57 year old boss digs the melvins cd I burned him. It was  mostly Everybody... and some originals. The question is where do I take him from there?

Melvins Discussion / Art edition Bride... from AMREP
December 18, 2014, 02:56:08 PM
Any opinions, people excited? Granted haven't seen the whole package I don't feel the immediate need to buy this, like with most other melvins stuff or Amrep in general.

Any clue how many unnumbered Life magazine 7's Mackie made?
#16
I want to diversify my collection.
#17
Really wanting to get the new tour only vinyls at VOODOO FEST I hope they are selling merch.

I was thinking it would be nice for us to have a thread dedicated to spreading information about upcoming limited edition releases and how to obtain them. There will be some redundancy with each new item getting its own thread but it would be nice to have all the important info all in one place. Sometimes those threads (while amusing) are like 23 pages and I just want to know What, when, where and how much $$$

For example:

Hey did you hear about the new melvns/hard ons split 7" coming out? You can sign up to be on the record labels mailing list and have access before the general public if you follow the link below.

I heard picture discs sound crummy but mine is BAD.

I Just got a copy and I am suspicious because in the dead wax whatever was etched has been filed off like a serial # on stolen gun.

Etched next to that there is an A & B.

Melvins Discussion / Mackie O. 7"
July 16, 2014, 12:15:39 AM
Anybody pulled the trigger on the Mackie O. 7"  that she did on all the old magazine covers?
#22
Just curios if anybody else on the forum lives here?
#23
I have received 7"s direct from haze or new from tour and have gotten some that are scratched (not badly, light surface scratches) and some that aren't trimmed very well around the outside edge. While on the other hand 10" & 12"s are so much better. Am I a nitpicky bastard with mild OCD, YES but that's not the point. What was my point?..... Oh right that a $30 dollar 7" record should be close to immaculate. I know how buzz feels about the medium (that they are more like collectors items) but especially as a collectors item  I'd like them to look beautiful like  pieces of art. Any opinions?
#24
I bought a few copies of 2 & 3 and while examining them I noticed instead of being numbered with a stamp one of them has: AP 8/20 Haze xxl.
Can't tell any other differences cept' the printing job on the front is a bit sloppy. I wonder if that makes it sought after because it is more limited?

I showed Buzz these photos and he said it was not his, never owned any ampeg he said, I told him he might remember having an amp with Buzz stenciled on it. He said it was probably labeled BUZZ because that's the sound it makes. What a charming and funny fellow.

Melvins Discussion / Roll Call for Cleveland
July 02, 2014, 07:09:31 AM
Who's coming to cleveland? Someone once said "Cleveland Rocks!" and I can corroborate. I was at the Columbus show and there was a killer setlist starting with boris and the rest I am not exactly sure of the order but we got Revolve, ballad  of Dwight frye, we are doomed and so much other old stuff. He actually didn't play anything off TMKA. I'd love to see a complete list of the Cbus setlist.

Anybody from the forum going to tonight's show or the next date in Cleveland???

Anybody go to the MI show that can give details about the Merch table???

I was speaking with a gentlemen that owns one EGC guitar and he loves it and has already ordered his second one.Neither of his are Buzzo Standards. He said the wait time can be 6-12 months after ordering and you put down 30-40% and can make installments after that. I asked him about the price hike and he said it's worth every penny.  :D

It has been my dream to make a documentary about the melvins. I am a union filmmaker and I own almost all the necessary equipment. I am aware there have been attempts in the past and to my knowledge none of them has come to fruition. Does anybody know what happened to the other projects? Also I will at some point need to contact the band and ask for permission.

Melvins Discussion / Haze just put some stuff up on Amrep

More copies of the Roxy music 7"

More copies of sugar Daddy split with Fantomas

I am planning to film the show in Austin and would like to have some matching cameras for alternate angles. Sony ex1,ex1R,ex3 would all be acceptable.

I remember my first exposure to the Melvins was from a friend of mine. We both loved Nirvana and wanted to listen to Kurt's favorite band. I don't recall what sampler it was that we had, some 90's grungy sampler, anyway we played the track and both looked at each other and agreed that it was horrible. I remember lots of feedback and it just sounded like noise. About a year later Their video for revolve kept getting played on a local (Dayton OH) late night public access metal program. I liked the song it was catchy and has a cool black and white video with buzz holding his own severed head and a bar full of drunks throwing bottles at a fence in front of the stage. Still no pursuit of finding more about the band. In 2000 I bought the Crybaby because it had Mike Patton on it and I loved the first Fantomas album and wanted to support Ipecac records. Still the rest of the Crybaby album I didn't quite get it even after several attempts. Years later I saw a, cd Jello Biafra and the Melvins Sieg Howdy, now this was intriguing. I asked my sister to buy it for me for X-Mas and was blown away how tight they were and also what a good match they were with Jello (at this time I was a fan of Lard, DK). This was the beginning of the obsession. I next bought Houdini Live 05, Lysol, stoner witch. Basically every melvins cd I could find in stores or the ebay. I was obsessed with their creativity odd time signatures interesting artwork. So one day digging through ebay I saw the With yo heart... 7" and thought oh that would be really cool to put on my bookshelf. Then the smash the state ep came out... After that the past 8 or so years have just been a frenzy of collecting everything melvins I can get my grubby little hands on: Vinyl, toys, stickers, shirts, comics, a belt buckle, pins....

I am interested in hearing your stories especially the oldschool 80's punk scene stuff.
