I had a count list going but lost it, and I think I'm sitting at around 16 or 17 shows I've seen - don't know if Buzz's show this Sunday will count. It's good to be a Melvins fan in the Twin Cities area - since it seems I get to see the Melvins at least once a year. First show I saw was in 96 or 97 - tour with Helmet and Skeleton Key at First Avenue. I was 14 - it was the second concert I'd ever been too.

I've seen the melvins every year since 1999. For the past 5 years I've seen them at least 2-3 times a year. At least 25 times all in all.  I live in Virginia and it's rare for them to come here but they always come to DC.  I've also gone to Ga, NC, PA, NY, and Boston for the residency show.

One year I started in Athens GA and followed them to philly. I saw them 4 times on that trip. It was a great road trip. I was alone and slept in my car. I even got lucky enough to randomly pick the same hotel that the melvins stayed at. It was quite surreal. The one night I decided I needed a bed, I chose a hotel based off of its huge hotel sign from the interstate. Of course I was driving in the same direction as them, from DC to Philly.  As I'm parking my car I see Dale, Cody and Jared unloading their things. Dale was smoking a cigarette. They saw me and seemed to have an "oh shit this guy is stalking us" look on their faces. So I just waved and parked and didn't bother them. I had a tweak bird shirt on so I know they knew I was a fan. The next morning I saw Cody at a gas station across the street and I talked to him a bit. He was very nice. I explained how I wasn't stalking them and he laughed.  I saw him again on the street in Philly walking with an Asian girl before the show when he tapped me on the shoulder and said "u really are stalking us aren't u" and laughed.  It was a cool experience. Sometimes I wish I had just gone up and talked to them but who wants to piss 3/4 of the melvins off?

    First melvins show at 18 yrs old. Leif Garrett sang smells like teen spirit. I took a bunch of pics including one with buzz but the camera was unknowingly put on the "b" setting instead of "auto" and nothing came out. I gave buzz a cd of my band in which he accepted and bowed to me. I remember him saying "no worries" a lot. We saw dale drinking a beer at the bar before the show. I also got one of buzz's picks as well as the set list. Buzz signed the pick "kbo" and my ticket stub, dale signed the setlist and joked "how am I going to know what to play tomorrow night?"

   There were 2 16 year old kids next to me the entire show that kept knocking into me, one of them kicked me in the head while trying to crowd surf. At the end of the set Cody threw out his drumsticks and I pushed one of the 16 yr old kids out of the way to get it. The kid looked at me and said "damn dude." I just looked at him and smiled. That felt good.

Yea. Obviously I meant walsby. Damn autocorrect.  I think yr right, the DC show in 07 was when they did purge of dissidents. I do remember one show where they had a screen down and showed that and I don't think there was another band. I also remember the dames opening for them too somewhere. I don't know. It's surprisingly hard to remember things like that after 20 years. Even if it is the one thing I look forward to every year. I'm looking forward to seeing buzz in Louisville Kentucky in 10 days. Although I do hope the melvins come back later this year. Buzz doing an acoustic set will be fun but u just can't beat the experience of seeing the melvins in full swing and having that heavenly wave of evil sound fill every pore of yr body.
