Melvins Lite still plenty heavy at WECC
By Darryl Sterdan

Lite is a relative term.

That's especially true when you're talking about Melvins Lite. On the one hand, yes, the Seattle sludge kings' new three-piece with standup bassist Trevor Dunn isn't quite as face-meltingly intense as their double-drummer quartet configuration with the Big Business boys. On the other hand, it's still the freaking Melvins. It's not like corkscrew-topped singer-guitarist Buzz Osborne and mighty, hulking drummer Dale Crover are gonna suddenly turn into a bluegrass band. Speaking of which, next to all the banjo picking and mandolin plucking I heard over the previous five days at the Winnipeg Folk Festival, the Melvins Lite show at West End Cultural Centre on Monday

couple video clips from the show (this guy was filming from directly in front of me, only slightly distracting):

the beginning of the Melvins in Winnipeg 2012 July 9th

the end of the Melvins in Winnipeg 2012 July 9th

the second half of the end of the Melvins in Winnipeg 2012 July 9th
