I bought a Rush bandana on the Roll The Bones tour in 92 that looked like this stuff. seemed played out back then too.

Went down a rabbit hole trying to find something snide to say about Misfits merch and how fans will buy skulls until they are one. Instead I just got this gem of Danziggery:

Personally I've loved skulls since I was old enough to draw so it will never be played out to me.

The Stoner Witch and Stag covers are just great in their simplicity, you'd have no idea what kind of music awaits you when looking at those illustrations and you've never heard of the Melvins before. I especially like the swan on the original cover of Stoner Witch.

And yes, I agree that skulls are some of the most cliché (and thus boring) art elements you can use for a band that plays heavier music. Honestly, I don't know why they use them so much in the recent years. I didn't like the similar looking "Basses Loaded" and "A Walk with Love and Death" album covers very much because of it.

It might also all just be a little joke to make fun of heavy metal bands by using cutesy cartoon skulls in abundance, though.

Basses Loaded's cover is pretty bad i think. Funnily enough i still to this day get confused trying to remember if that one is purple or blue? You guys remember the original blue version of the cover art we saw for that? I wonder why they changed it. The blue one was at least a little bit better to me. I liked AWWL&D one tho!

Yeah, AWWLAD's cover is a lot more "tidy" and not that bad. Bassed Loaded on the other hand is far too crowded.
