It seems to me that until about a year ago, you would never ever see used Melvins records at the record shop- especially Ozma through the beginning of Big Biz era stuff. Though, now, it seems like I see the records there once a month. though, they usually have the $100 price tag. I just saw Stoner Witch for $99 and then Ozma for $60. Before this year, the only time I ever saw one of those records for sale in person was at a record fair in NY where the guy had every single LP (including orig lysol) for like $150.

Has anyone else noticed this? Care to put forth a hypothesis for the cause?

Keep in mind that bootlegs have popping up more recently.

There's been a lot of people dumping Melvins records lately, but they weren't real fans to begin with

I would say that some people bought them for the cost of a regular album 20 years ago or whatever.. and have only recently discovered that They are fetching collectors prices now online.

those fucked up prices are ebay prices anyway, fucking people.

150 bucks, fuck you!!!

I give you 40-50 bucks...maybe 60 if its honky...but stilll....fuck you.

not even 10 years ago people couldnt GIVE AWAY melvins cassettes on ebay.

now some douche wants like 50 bucks for his copy of Stoner witch on cassette...

I bought two GPTs for like 3.99 apeice back in 2004 on cassette...SEALED.

They dont come up much anymore.

Anyway I always find a way to get a score on good music.

I would consistantly buy direct from the band but they dont cross the border with all their merch.

Do not blame them, EVERYONE wants a peice of the excitement.

There are too many Maniacs out there with melvins Lps for sale..

Usually its *because* its the maniacs who hold all the keys to the record shops.

That should either mean the price is about to Drop BIGTIME! for melvins LPs meaning people who are REAL smart know to sell off their shit before it isnt worth shit.

either that or its the other way and more idiots are selling and injecting more bootlegs into the streets. selling the bootlegs to even MORE idiots who buy them unwittingly for the dirty collectors item costs of an original pressing.

maybe its a bit of both and all at once.

Did you bid on the latest The End cassette on eBay? It went for $41.

No, Lack of interest by the time I guzzled my sour Grapes down over the one Bobpepperpants was liquidating.

I will eventually get one, same with the 8-track. Besides no one has a clue what to do with those things aymore except me apparently.

I didnt even watch it *the end* of the Acution ironically, my tragical Mysery and loss.

someone else got lucky, and who knows...maybe they deserved it.

Either that or no one saw it coming since they hardly show up...Let alone two copies in less than a month pass through it doesnt flow with my ebay item algarythms.

What do you guys think of Discogs?
I just joined and bought Mark D-Ruckus Juice.
I like how they're set up like Amazon, with different sellers
matching up against each other's prices (I think?).
I have no time or patience for eBay.
I don't want to end up like my dad, glued to the computer screen.  8-[

I love discogs and use it all the time. the alert system is a great way to buy super rare records. Sometimes, because super rare records have no other items for sale, sellers way under price them and I snatch em right up. I love it.

But I've been around Austin and Dallas it's said,
And in between Seattle and Olympia, too;
And I've never seen anything except Senile Animal. (It's true.)

I regret not checking Amoeba in L.A.,
But (something) had the biggest CD collection this side of Bel Ray,
It was the biggest collection that I'd ever seen,
And accidentally there also was the songwriter of 'Queen'.

(Apologies. Someone has just challenged me to make Satchel's posts rhyme.)

I bought Stoner Witch from Amoeba in LA, but I had to ask a clerk if they had any Melvins that wasn't out front.
He ended up checking with a bunch of the staff and after about 15 minutes he located the Stoner Witch vinyl.
I did the same thing in San Fran and the clerk just gave me a funny look and told me everything they had was out front (Somehow I doubt they are putting $100+ records out for public perusal).
