I think what we may start to see in lieu of "Touring" is more bands having residencies and becoming a "Destination Event". For example, if you want to see the Melvins, they are playing 3 nights a week at the Echo in Los Angeles over the months of April, May and June 2021. This means less travel for the band (saving money on hotels/gas/vehicles/meals), less time spent loading in/setting up/breaking down/loading out, more time at home with their families, less chance of getting sick - and with all of the restrictions/rules/regulations at the federal, state and local level that are going to come with doing shows post-COVID - fewer headaches of having to figure out how to adjust for each market when touring. Dont' even get me started on how people would do that going to different countries as well. The artist would be able to settle into this fairly easily, and I believe that the fans will settle into this very easily as well. Travel to concerts is something I personally love doing - I have done it many times and have flown overseas for it as I know other people on this board have done as well.

Can you imagine a vacation like - "Hey, we are flying to Los Angeles to see the Melvins do a three-night stand, followed by seeing Artist B and Artist C doing their residencies and then we might catch the Melvins for another three nights before we fly home."

It's just a thought, but I don't think things are ever going to be going back to the way it was.
that's great for you, Los Angelino. i'll pass!

Aw...Melvins were only one reason that I moved from Seattle to Los Angeles 15 years ago. It's also sunny every day! Come on Vince - join us!

I've been wondering lately how would 2020 have gone for the band if we didn't all get locked down and the virus never happened. Obviously Buzz would have gone on his big solo tour with Trevor which would have took up most of the year. But i wonder if Melvins would have toured a bit too towards the end of 2020. Perhaps that new 1983 album would have been penciled in for a late in the year release and they might have done a few short (or one off) 1983 gigs with Dillard like they did around when Tres Cabrones came out. Oh well, we'll never know!

Between the mudhoney EP, the solo album+EP, and 1983, this is turning out to get a good year to be a Melvins fan/collector.

Also I never mentioned but my skate bundle arrived. Really nice. The Basses Loaded booklet is totally new to me. I assume they came out around the album but didn't recall seeing them anywhere.

Cool. My bundle's taking for ever to get across the pond. The Basses Loaded book was released with the Basses Loaded Bundle back in Dec 2016, and there might have been a few inside the Mackie versions of the LP sold on tour.

LA is a short trip from Arizona!

I should have moved out to LA just to see the Melvins, I've been kicking myself ever since I realized this years ago.
