I'm sure it'll be a divisive one but I love "Fuck Around" as far as arrangement and performance.
No, i quite like it too! Especially as an album opener! I do kinda wish Buzz had sang a second verse in the second half instead of the "fuck around" being repeated quite so much. In fact that first verse is my favourite part of the song - how he re-wrote the original Beach Boys tune around the inclusion of "fuck".

Yeah, i mean as a song in and of itself, it isn't really very good. But in the context of a record and how it kicks it off, whilst knowing the bands tongue in cheek sense of humour, i think it isn't too bad.

It’s cool. The second track Bouncy Rick is better though.

Yes, that's the clear frontrunner so far. By a country mile!

Since we've heard 'I Fuck Around' and 'Bouncing Rick', i can't help but wondering what the song between these two 'Negative No No' might be like. 'Bouncing Rick' sounds almost like what you would expect a typical Melvins opening track to sound like. Whilst the opening Beach Boys cover has it's strong dose of Melvins' unexpected silliness that they sometimes like to serve up for the second track on a record. So these two things make me wonder about track 2. Could it be an instrumental piece of some kind or something slower and weird?

If the world gets back to normal and we can start to travel again, now that the vaccines are starting to be handed out in some weeks (to risk groups first), then I hope by Lord almighty that we can see the Mighty Melvins live again and Bouncing Rick will definately be a crowd pleaser!

Negative No No does seem to be the one other new song I am looking forward to, and for the same reason.

So if you count Basses Loaded, Dillard has officially been on more studio albums than Lukin, Joe and Lorax. That's pretty gnarly.

Kind of. This is my tally! Although im sure there is some wiggle room as to what an "album" is.

MIKE DILLARD
Singles 1-12
Mangled Demos From 1983
Tres Cabrones
Basses Loaded
Working With God

MATT LUKIN
10 Songs / 26 Songs
Gluey Porch Treatments
Singles 1-12
Mangled Demos From 1983

LORI BLACK
Ozma
Your Choice Live Series
Bullhead
Eggnog
Houdini
Singles 1-12

JOE PRESTON
Joe Preston
Lysol

Kevin Rutmanis is far out in front in terms of appearences on Melvins records!

You forgot the Making Love '87  Demos w/ Lukin. It's more official IMO than YCLS. Bifocal Media, included w/ a Walsby book. Buzz/Dale probably made more money off of that release than YCLS.

Kevin definitely wins. Counting collaborations he's on like nine albums.

I didn't credit Houdini to Lorax as it's been confirmed by multiple sources she's not actually on the album (Buzz in a few interviews, Billy Anderson on the documentary)

EDIT: This is how I had it tallied, only studio albums in mind (no EPs or live) but I'll add compilations. Add live albums and Lorax will tie Dillard (Your Choice Live, Pick Your Battles).

Dillard - Mangled Demos, Tres Cabrones, Basses Loaded*, Working With God (4)
Lukin - Mangled Demos, 6/10/26 Songs, Gluey Porch Treatments, Making Love Demos (4)
Lorax - Ozma, Bullhead (2)
Preston - Lysol (1)
Deutrom - Prick, Stoner Witch, Stag, Honky, Electroretard* (5)
Rutmanis - Maggot, Bootlicker, Electroretard, The Crybaby, HAT, PotRE, Never Breathe, Sieg Howdy, Sausages*, Three Men (10)
Warren/Willis - Senile Animal, Nude With Boots, Bride Screamed Murder, Sausages, Basses Loaded* (5)
Dunn - Freak Puke, Everybody Loves Sausages*, Basses Loaded* (3)
Pinkus - Hold It In, Basses Loaded*, PAT (3)
MacDonald - Basses Loaded*, A Walk, PAT (3)

Damn i forgot about that. You are totally right there! Funny to think that it is (possibly) the bands most famous album and yet has no bassist featured! I'd like to see Buzz and Dale do that on another record some time. Either have no bass or to contribute it themselves.

That all looks right to me.

Personally i'd even add Adam Jones and DSS as true, proper past-Melvins members. Since both toured and recorded with the band.
