Oh oh, I hope this won't change my opinion on 'em! My username is aweirdmeanrat, I will be online tonight.

By the way for those who do like Mastodon, last Saturday I was at a friend's house and he has that early 7" of Mastodon, signed!

Maarten cmon dude you have to admit, that cover art looks like a mixture
of the Tomahwak cover and the Thrones sperm whale cover, with that
illustrated beast

I did admit ir, but I refuse to admit it's a rip off. There's a difference between between a rip off and a smilaritie, isn't there?

For example. have you heard the new Oasis single, Let There Be Love? I'm sure you haven't, 'cause neither did I (Rembrandt Pussysomething pointed me at it). Anyway,  it's a straight Mr. Bungle rip-off, Retrovertigo to be precise. Now, if Retrovertigo would have been a Metallica song, they already would have been fucked, but I'm pretty positive Oasis don't listen to Mr. Bungle, so I consider it as a similarity.

Now you're just kidding, aren't you? Or are you really saying I bough a Sperm Whale sweater last year? How cool is that!

nobody sounds like melvins

I agree, no one plays in their league but there's still bands that remind me of them.

Sleep
Mastodon
Grief
Eyehategod

mastodons version of the bit sucks.
I actually heaved while listening to it.

Oh, come on.. It's great!
I like fucking corpses

Check this out, I spotted this cover some time ago and thought it had the same look and feel as the trilogy cover but couldn't find it when I wanted to post it when this thread was going on.
