Yeah, Neubauten are awesome, all eras. And as Surfling says, a amazing live act. Saw them years ago but then Covid fucked my next engagement; really really hope I get the chance to see them again. Blixa was also a founding member of The Bad Seeds and long time Nick Cave collaborator. His solo work is also aces. Not sure if he's an asshole, it would be fitting.

Okay, I'll bite - where are all the Blixa bashing comments coming from? I have to admit I've not heard that about him, and I've got no real reason to be biased one way or another, I guess. Long time fan of the group, and I only met him briefly on a couple of occasions, both of which I'd reckon he could have been a jerk if he felt like it. Once, was with Nick at a Bad Seed show in Chicago, they just stepped off the bus and were immediately swarmed by fans, and of course I just *had* to get up there and shake their hands and blab about nothing all that important. Another time was after a Neubauten show in Wisconsin, where it was freezing outside, and he had a lovely companion on his arm who was a bit under-dresssed for the weather, but he still stopped to chat with me for a few minutes and autographed a couple of his books I had in my backpack. Maybe I just caught him on a couple of rare occasions where he felt like being charming, I dunno?

They are actually quite brilliant - started off in the early 80s doing super noisy industrial stuff, then slowly honing their musical skills and style and writing great tunes as well.
Take a look here to get an idea of their current sound:

They are also all really nice people - except for the singer.

You should check out their show if they make it back to the US, one of the most interesting live acts around. I think they had gigs planned for last year...

Nice! It is high time for me to check them out - I am really digging this video at the 8:00 minute mark - Thanks!!

Glad you're enjoying them!

I am honestly convinced Neubauten would be much bigger a name and way more successful today if Blixa hadn't antagonized so many people in the business. It really is a shame.

Here's another good set, plus you get the wonderful Wire and an incredible set by German trio Caspar Brötzmann Massaker who basically blew both other bands off the stage that night:

As you should. Surfling's steering ya down the right path. Lots to devour there. Long history and a very healthy output as a band. Not to mention all the members are powerhouses with ample amount of expression, work, and art outside the confines of the band.

Always a big fan of anything bassist/multi instrumentalist Alexander Hacke has his hands, head, and heart into. I can also assure you that Hacke is a nice fellow, at least he was on the couple occasions I've met and chatted with him.

Really love the "Recycled" OST that Blixa helmed ... the majority of the release is much more cinematic soundtrack flavour; but this has always stood as one of my favorite songs by anyone ...

Blixa's first solo release "Commissioned Music" is also absolutely full aces ...

I am kinda split regarding Einstürzende Neubauten (I have the "ü" and I can understand their lyrics - haha).
For me they have been a very important band back in then until their "Haus der Lüge" which was still good. Just listen to songs like "Seele brennt" or "Der Tod ist ein Dandy" which all disappeared from their current setlist. AFterwards Mufti left the band and they more or less became a Blixa thing with his personal support band, changing suits for their leather trousers. At that stage their music lacked the raw energy and the lyrics their nihilism. Maybe this conicides with Blixa quitting H.
Today I still like their music but it is not stat ourstanding anymore. Blixa and Alex Hacke both live nearby my place and Jochen Arbeit too. Alex' with his wife and Jochen's solo stuff is more interesting today when they play in small clubs nearby.
Is Blixa an asshole? A friend of mine told me that Blixa was using his fame when he became friends with Nick Cave back then. I do not know! Never personally talked to him, only wsaw im crossing the street in front of me just before his solo concert and we looked and cheared each other. Maybe he became friendlier when getting older. :)

I wish this "Now I'm Here" had appeared on Melvins vs MPLS. This version rules with both Dale (?) and Buzz singing parts.
