This is now the video thread, so here's some footage of Melvins in 1992 playing some outdoor thing. I've never seen it posted here and it's not on youtube as far as I can tell so... yeah.

that's at UC Irvine Student Center terrace, from March 3, 1993. I interviewed them for KUCI 88.9 fm following this lunchtime gig that blew away everyone in attendance... Lorax was high and could barely speak, and Buzz and Dale spun Ted Nugent and Van Halen records. great fun.

a great bootleg dvd exists of this entire gig...

didn't she keep losing her pick in the middle of songs? i got a boot of this show before you could even get em on dvds.

Brilliant story, Ian!   And what harm has Ian ever done to Fart that he deserves to be harrassed no matter what he writes, even when it's funny and brilliant as fuck? Digger > Nigger and an Fuck > Shut!

First time I've seen Buzz play anything besides a Les Paul.

Wtf kinda guitar IS that? I thought by the headstock it was an ibanez Iceman but it aint.

Anyone? I have to know these things.

i don't remember rightly about that but given her condition that day, i wouldn't be surprised.

i'm glad the show is out there, i videoed it myself but have never gotten around to transferring to digital.

i remember him showing it to me and him being stoked that it only had 5 strings because he didn't use the 6th one, but i forget who made it...  they made it for him, or so he claimed. i was never a guitar head, so it didn't have that much importance to me outside of the missing string thing. it may have been new at the time. i want to say Ibanez but i don't really remember, it was like 14 years ago... fuck i'm old.

Goddamn indeed

I don't have time to watch all of it but fuck I can't wait to watch the rest.

glen

no doubt.  that is a pretty badass video.     strange to see buzz with the braids.  I don't like it.

is it just me or does buzz seem irratated by faulty equipment or something to that effect in this clip?

Dales drumming is awesome in that clip though, I love the sounds of his kit in that era.
