but something about that performance on the video really felt all over the place. So much so that it shocked me. I suppose it could just be the mix or how the room sounded because i can't imagine it was the band.

maybe it was the (empty) room or just the mix..though, as i did when they used to play with two drums, i still think less is better..especially with Melvins

Probably true on all counts.

yeah compare it to this
Better of course, but now i think that other video has scarred me on this song! At least on the live renditions anyway. All that squidgy bass superfluousness!

Not a great song choice honestly

Bullshit.

I love Edgar, I'm just saying the guitar work isn't what makes the song for me. I think it relies more on the ensemble and especially the writing, so this left it kind of bare and uninteresting if we are supposed to focus on the riffs. On top of that, the sound was trash.

Not gonna lie. First thing I thought of when I watched that Premier Guitar video was this:

RE Greg Ginn
Holy shit what happened at Coachella 2012? What was he doing? I couldn't watch more than a few minutes, skipped ahead, and it was still going. That's embarrassing.

RE Edgar
For me this one is all about that drop into the winding riff. When that hits right it is glorious. I like seeing Pinkus and Steven doing the harmony on this tour. That video of them teaching it is awful, though.

"Ok...I'm finally getting my shit together with converting my audio tapes. I now post for your consideration, a historical document if you will. May 1992. I drove up to Gainesville to see Melvins at the Hardback. But Buzz had gotten really really sick and flew home. Dale and Joe Preston played a full set anyway. I called them the Elvins. Listening to this tape after these decades passed, they actually did a pretty good job. But at the time we were pissed we drove over 200m round trip to see a Buzz-less Melvins. Here's the 1st few minutes of that show.

Has anybody else ever heard of Melvins doing a show like this?"
