Looking for Neither Here Nor There?
« on: April 22, 2008, 08:59:10 AM »
Just a heads up if you are looking for a copy > http://www.alibris.com/booksearch?author=melvins

I have seen these for much more elsewhere ($200+ for used hard cover editions on Amazon for example).  I am glad I got my copy when it was first released...

I got the paperback copy (with cd) from ebay for like $30-something I think, when it first came out.

I regret not getting the H.A.T. 7"s even more.
At least I picked up the Trick and Riddles book.

one of my friends got me one of the h.a.t. 7"s and i was pleased and a little pissed, i had to explain that there were seven more and now i had to try and get them all. i was o.k. without any but now i have one and need the other seven.
i'm also really glad i got the trick & riddle book too.  they had it at one of the shows for 4$ so there was no excuse for not getting it.

I bought two copies of the autographed hardcover when they came out.  I can't believe how much they list for on e-bay.  If this damn states economy gets any worse I might have to cash one in.

Speaking of Neither Here Nor There, I got my copy on ebay some time ago and it looked fine but after a short while the pages got loose and separated from the cover. I was thinking about asking a bookbindery if they could fix it.  BUT, I'm not sure whether I should do this or not since it's pretty much a collectors item and I don't want to destroy its value or something like that... I just thought it would be cooler to have it fixed instead of having two separated parts, the pages and the cover. But then again, I'm happy to at least have a copy and after all it's not completely destroyed or something like that, I can still take a look at it once in a while. Besides I have no idea what a repair would cost me.  Any opinions?

mine did the same thing. i don't really care that much though because i don't plan on getting rid of it. if you got it for a good price i wouldn't sweat it... unless you plan on trying to sell it. :(

Oh no, I'm not gonna sell it! I'm glad to have one, it's such a great book. Nevertheless I thought it would be nice to have it fixed, it just makes me sad to see it like that...  still I don't know if it's a good idea.

At least it's good to know that it wasn't my fault or even the sellers fault, I guess the binding is just a bit lousy. I wonder how many of the books actually fell apart after a while...

Thought I would Bring This One Back

-Question..

Did anyone ever attempt to repair the binding of their copy?.. I just got a copy off ebay. It was in great shape, but sure enough the binding is separating from the pages just like I had read many of you mentioning.

I am pretty handy and was thinking of trying to fix it. Did anyone have success?.. Would I be a fool to attempt such a thing?

I was thinking that Mod Podge would work.. Or possibly Rubber Cement (I went to Art School so I'm pretty handy with it)

I figured It would be good to ask the group here before trying anything...

     Thoughts?
