I have the Melvins version of "Buick Mackane" from that tribute album. It's great. You can download it right here:

I hope it's okay to post that here.

as a whole the disc is ok, the patton and melvins covers would be the highlights, and that would be my non-biased opinion.
a good half of that disc is crap - not something I listen to often.

My favourite Fantomas song.

great fuckin' album! i'm so glad i snagged a copy.

the aforementioned covers by the melvins, fantomas and buckethead (pinchface on vocals!) are obviously the standout tracks. but it also has great reworkings by elysian fields, marc ribot, mideski martin and wood, and weird little ditty by trey spruance.

also, if i'm not mistaken, patton played all the instruments on "chariot choogle" -- it was recorded before he recruited dave, buzz and trevor. very cool.

You are correct sir. I believe it was part of the demo he gave them. Wasn't Igor Cavallera originally supposed to be the drummer of Fantomas but he said no?
Hail, not fail.

It's one installment of John Zorn's Great Jewish Music series on his label, Tzadik.
The Sean Lennon/Yuka Honda track is great.
And the record is still in stock in the Radical Jewish Culture section.

Yes it was on the demo. They needed a fucking demo, for that band. Relapse wouldn't sign them without a demo, that was all part of the reason Ipecac was founded, right? Anyone?

"The first drummer I talked to was the drummer in Sepultura, Igor
Cavalera, a friend of mine. And he was into it, but he's coming from his own
place, and I wasn't really secure that that place was the right place for this
music. Meaning, I sent him a tape and he was kind of like, "Well, these are
some nice ideas. Maybe we can jam a little bit on this." Whoa! Wait a minute.
This isn't jam music, bud. I know it doesn't sound like a song, but that's what
I hear as a song. I was like, "Oh, fuck, the drummer is the crux of this thing.
In this type of music, you're only as good as your drummer." And then I
thought, "Oh my God, Lombardo is the man. Of course!"
