Flipper is a punk band from San Francisco, California. They formed in 1979, broke up during the 1990s, then reunited in 2005. Original singer, Will Shatter, died from a drug overdose in 1987.

Flipper have been quoted as being one of Buzz's long time favourite bands.

In 1990, The Melvins released a 5" single Love Canal/Someday of Flipper covers. The original version of "Love Canal" was released as a single in 1980, and also appears on the 1988 LP Sex Bomb, Baby!. The original version of "Someday" was released on 1992's American Grafishy.

In 1992, The Melvins covered the song "Sacrifice" on their album Lysol. The original version appears on Flipper's 1984 LP Gone Fishin' and also appears on the 1988 LP Sex Bomb, Baby!

In 1996 & 1997, The Melvins covered "Way of the World" on Singles 1-12. The original version appears on Flipper's Album Generic Flipper from 1981.
