Here's Hank and Jr:

Hank Jr. and III:

I read Living Proof. Good autobiography. I think this is one of the photos from the book:

Ramblin' Man could be on any country radio station in my opinion, one of Senior's songs. Okie is of course a Merle Haggard song. Love them both.

Hank III can make a living just standing on stages in casinos imitating his grandfather, but instead he chose to make the music he wants to make. Seems genuine to me.

There's this whole weird conspiracy theory I keep hearing from country elitists (yes, there is such a thing) that he's actually just some guy who happens to strongly resemble the original Hank and was packaged as his grandson by record labels as a wrestling-style gimmick because he's allegedly too untalented for people to care about otherwise. Had a few insist that it's "open, documented knowledge" that he's not related to the elder Hanks in any way, but I've never actually seen or read any of it if it exists. I'd say breaking out into whatever the heck kind of music he feels like making is a good way for him to go though. He's talented. I would have loved seeing him with the Melvins.
you are a fucking dumbass. I know the man. Hes as real as it gets and hed punch you square in the fucking mouth if you wanna say that garbage to his face.

Don't shoot the messenger, I think it's ridiculous too. I'm just confused as to how it's something evidently at least a few people believe and insist there's concrete evidence of.

"You Can Make Me Wait"
An awful parody/attempt at a corporate radio-friendly style pop song. Unintelligable & annoying vocoder-affected singing. Did Leary bring this crap to the table? As much as I despise this song, when I play the CD, I usually sit through it and laugh pretty hard.

On Hank3:  Wish they had collaborated more than that one tour and the 2 songs on Crybaby. Melvins/Hank3 should cover "Harder Than Your Husband", & "Lonesome Cowboy Burt".
Does anyone in Hank3's circle know what his deal is lately? I can understand the freedom of not being stuck to a label and doing the album/tour-rinse/repeat cycle every year, but he's going on 4 yrs now w/ no live activity or new material.

Not one of my favourites either. In fact all three Leary songs on 'Hold It In' could and SHOULD have been omitted for me. Not that they are bad songs per-say, just not what i want to hear from the band. Without those 3 tracks, i think the album would have been a pretty good one overall.

for me, Hold It in includes Captain Comedown and Attitude, so overall not lacking too much in the kickass department. more of an album like Stag, filled with tasty nuggets that are different to say the least, but still quite entertaining. You Can Make Me Wait has always reminded me of Michael Nesmith's solo material from the movie Elephant Parts/ tv series Television parts, which he produced. we grew up listening to that stuff. I get what Paul was doing there.

??
I often imagined that Captain Comedown was recorded at the same time (or about then) but Attitude? You do mean the one on Everybody Loves Sausages right? I say that because Pinkus wasn't on that track and it pre-dates Hold It In.

I've made that mistake more than once. I mean Ambition from the Hard Ons split. Recorded with Pinkus at least.

Ah i had forgot about that one. I didn't know Pinkus played on it though. I find that is one of the joys of the discography page on here - i can check to see who was on bass on the more obscure, lesser known singles etc.

For the most part Hold It In really was a pretty darn kickass record, although the mixing (which, as somebody here pointed out sometime, suffers from a buried high-end) and the EGC guitar undermined some of the songs' potential. Like, Bride Of Crankenstein and Sesame Street Meat IMO actually rival The Maggot levels of heavyness riff-wise, but they don't have the sound to prove it, at least in their studio versions.

But yeah, this was about bad songs... I'm not feeling the Leary songs either, not in the context of the album at least.
Other two I don't really care for are Piss Pisstopherson and Nine Yards.

Me too. I love the Leary songs. I blast you can make me wait every time I play Hold It In.  Very nostalgic. Nine yards is one of my favorite in the album.

Very nostalgic.
The albums not even 4 years old!! Unless you meant nostalgic as in songs that have a sense of an older musical sensibility.
