It's just that one of the artist name being Sultry Barber.
You can't really change that on soundcloud (as far as I know), but if you publish it in any other form, that's what I'd prefer the artist name to be.
Also, good job, and thank you.

Still looking for singers, though. Who wants to sing At The Stake?
I've got a cover of ballad of Dwight frye that me and a friend did about 10 years ago. The quality isn't as great as it could be but I'd love to include it. How do we go about this?

Seriously, full time child care and a 40 hour work week with a tiny laptop screen, no desk, and back to back zoom meetings. What downtime? Exactly.

Good work (Paul)!
Oh yeah! So the universe handed me this magical space harp and I've been plugging pedals in to play some ambio-metal. My end goal is to find a Brian Eno meets Merzbow fusion, but I've been wanting to do something melvinsy for control practice. Maybe I can get Brian to bass for me - I want to do Sacrifice
Also, I traded that painting a while back ago for a freak puke letter press variant. Let me know if you have something in mind via visuals, I'd love to contribute more art.

Thanks man, I had completely forgotten that was sent to Grim all those years ago. Recorded with an old camcorder my friend had on the side of the stage. Thankfully Grim edited it down. ;) I have a few more sets from back then of different Melvins tunes we'd string together in a long medley. My buddy, the drummer, was and is a much stronger singer than me but somehow I ended up doing it.

Really great work by KFC and the Conspiracy! Outstanding vocals, like if Manson fronted a blue ice fueled punk band! Expecting the Texas parole board to lift restrictions next year and we get a tour.
So JFK, your contribution was to do a hardcore punksong from1983 in the style of sludge Melvins for the tribute? That's maybe the most metaMelvins tribute imaginable. Kudos. I really enjoyed the track. (Please don't spam it to five other threads!)

Im not sure where "abstinence" came from. I was just thinking of something I could say instead of "silence", something that would put my own spin on it. When the word came to me it seemed to make perfect sense. I don't drink, whilst Grim likes a drink. I liked that polarity and connection. I thought about what a digital abstinence is or could be. How we might read about people online who have quit drinking or maybe even an abstinence from social media that folk so often mention these days. I didn't want to just have the silence after the words but I couldn't think what to do there or to add. I certainly wanted something. I considered a few different things. But then I thought about a song by Down that has the sound of a bong hit at the beginning. I thought "why not have the sound of a beercan opening?!". That to make made total sense. Someone being abstinent from drinking. The silence indicating this, how their life was now boring and then their will power breaks and predictably they go back to the drink. The funny thing was, I don't own any canned drinks at all. So to get the sound I just recorded a can being opened from a random YouTube video. How good or effective the video is i don't know. Grim did a good job putting it together. The silence originally was much shorter. Ideally it's not the Melvins "song" i would choose to cover but i like the video and it was fairly easy to do which suited me.

I seem to have gotten the hang of many instruments but I still struggle with drums for some reason. I
might be able to to tackle Queen but I wouldn't rely on me to have the time to do it. I got super drunk and fell over on my electric kit anyway about three weeks ago lol. I'd have to put humpty dumpty back together again first. At least it still works.
I'll ask the guy who played drums on my Beara song if he'd want to do it. I bet he could tackle that song from memory on his first try. He has two little kids so maybe he's too busy as well.
It could be me I guess...
I'll have to make a ribbon crasher out of some hi-hats again and practice Queen for a bit on drums.
Duno how I'd add my drums digitally yet though :-k I do everything on cassette. #-o
Haven't done any recording, I still gotta do Revolve again too while I'm at it.
Grim if you can post that for people, it's only the rough demo with flubs on it.
That would give you the idea of what my drum track is gonna be like if you picked me for drums on queen.
That's the final guitar part! Flubs are wanted .
D, you can cover the bass part! I'll get B Jammin to submit a complete cover song if he wants.

...I left the vocals off for a friend of mine who said he wanted to do the vocals on it...but opted out of adding his vocals once he asked me to record that cover for him when I actually recorded it, I sorta knew he wasn't serious about it so I never fixed the flubs where I hit the rims on the big finish at the end, which will always be there to annoy myself with knowing I made pretty careless mistakes on that track and by no means should have flubbed that drum track so bad.
Are you putting on a "serious" vocal feel?
Cuz I'd love it if you sung it like a total annoying half-assed bizarro melvin voice on purpose like how the melvins do weirdo Vocals sometimes, Like that Moving to florida cover! Sometimes buzz puts on a silly weird voice and it's amusing and silly yet somehow effective. Either way ya would be cool to hear what you got
Awesome Vid Grim man!!! haha!!! Thanks so much for posting that up! :D :D :D

PPPS 4k downloader isn't letting me get the mp3 for some reason. Do any of you have a digital file I can record to?
PPPPS Sorry I'm sure you've mentioned how to do it but I'm still talking to so many people. A refresher would be very helpful.
I can send you the garage band track file template and you'd have to export it as an MP3.
I'd have to re-mix it from scratch again first. I could try and re-create that mix from memory if that would work for you? I didn't save the template before I exported it, I'm usually working on several mixes at once to compare because of how garage band changes the whole dynamic and sound after it get's exported and it's touchy as hell.

Haha I mean just send me a track and I'll do my best to sing over it! I'm singing along to Faith No More now. I can add some weirdo voices too. Maybe like 50/50 normal and weird. Cool it should sound great when all is said and done.
I didn't notice any mistakes. It's a cool cover. It'd be boring if it sounded 100% like the original anyway.

Bass - Dumpster Diver
Vocal - JFK
Synthesizer - Judy
Drums - This could be you.
Shoot, I forgot about this. I need to practice and figure out how I'm going to record it. I'll probably dub it on cassette. If I get into it I might want to share vocals.
Also, it's a magical Outer space harp, not a synthesizer :)

I should honestly Just go ahead and get the drums and bass done in the next couple days and mail a tape to the next person who will have to digitize it themselves once again, would that work? I will have to practice a little though honestly I've never learned this tune, there's a guy playing the guitar for it on youtube but I honestly think he's playing a few riffs differently than how I am sure Buzz is playing it.
grim sounds like he's got it right though.
IF it gets put on Cassette it will be lo-fi, I'll try to order an Analog-Digital interface maybe next month if this can wait?
If there's a rush on it (and I think I work better with a deadline)
then I can actually create a 4-track cassette version of this and master a tape with my bass and (or) Drum track overdrubs and physically mail a "Master" Cassette or Reel to whoever needs to add more tape tracks to it if that might work? at the very least I have to either take the WAV. or MP3 file itself and transfer it to tape, and then it has to get re-digitized, this will greatly compress and bottleneck the frequency response. If I burn the Track on CD then I can at least get a better sounding 2nd generation 4-track tape started (or worse just going out through the headphone jack of the computer which is a 3.5mm Jack) which is high speed compared to standard cassette playback speed so it will not be unacceptably lossy.
I could Do the bass and drums that way and then it would be mixed down onto a tape and If one of you has a 4-track cassette I'll just send you the actual 4-track tape you can mix and digitize and get a lot better quality out of it, I'm really stuck with Cassettes and Reels for now, let me know if that's ok or how ever else we can make this work for everyone.
again, I can produce a 7.5 IPS reel or a high speed 4-track cassette which is also playing 7.5 IPS but much smaller track size physically than quarter inch tape (or just a plain old normal stereo Cassette mix down)
Let me know what you think will work for best results possible.
I'm just playing bass along to a live version of Queen with the BB guys, so far I'm picking it up pretty quick..pretty much have it actually on bass.. but these are still very clever riffs man. 8) I can see why they like to play it live still.
The drums are another story but I'll see If I can do a drum track that doesn't sound like a fart in a tin can compared to the Drummer from the melvins...don't quit your day job or anything. :buzz:

Welcome back Seas of Luck!
haha damn I just saw this video!!! Good shit! Thanks man!
Everyone should seriously drop some acid and watch it lol 8)
Alright my cover is done and is uploading as we speak! A few notes:
1. I'm getting into the swing of recording again and forgot where all of my equipment is. This also means the acoustics aren't really top notch. I had to use the cheapest, shittiest earbuds and often had to sing a little quieter than normal to actually hear myself and not get out of sync.
2. I've been super busy this week and only had time for one take that I through together in like an hour.
3. I still think it turned out pretty good all things considered. Thanks for reminding me how much fun singing and creating can be! I hope you all enjoy. 8)
PS I forgot we also covered The Bit at one point during our GG Allin tribute! I mostly remember people begging us not to shit on the stage. I also remember these tough "dudebro" metalheads getting scared shitless of of singer whenever he'd go into the crowd. One dude pulled a knife on him during the set!   Stay tuned and we cover The fucking COWS Hitting the Wall after that! 8)

I'm over it and just joking around. Hard to tell on a message board but I don't take too much, including myself, very seriously.
Iirc the original tribute fizzled out a bit and then Green Honey rebooted it like 6 months later with all the tracks except my Beara cover of History of Bad Men because he didn't like it. He didn't bother to tell me either just quietly deleted it and wouldn't add it again when I called him out on it. Interesting to know it's possible to out weird Melvins fans! That was kind of the whole point of Beara too. I felt like there were WAY too many judgemental people in the underground music scene. I wanted Beara to tap into that final area I hadn't seen art tackle; calling out music fans on their own hypocrisies when it comes to being a non conformist and actually rebelling for real instead of wearing black clothing or whatever hackneyed shit that's been done a million times. (Black clothing is cool, hypocrisy is not.)
Enter Beara and our History of Bad Men Cover. The dual drumming is pretty much like the original so nothing too weird there. But then you get to the fact that there's only bass and no guitar. You would be
amazed over the amount of idiots who think a band just simply can not function without a guitar as if it's the be all end all instrument or something. That adds to the weirdness. But you know what I loved the absolute most? The vocals. Everything about it is just "wrong". It feels dirty. It feels off. The singer rarely hits any correct notes and he's out of time for half the song. It also sounds as if a serial killer hijacked a band far more talented than him and refused to let us go unless we play for him. It honestly puts me in gut laughter every time I hear how "wrong" the performance is. While the rhythmn section captures the original recording pretty well I think the vocals capture the spirit of the Prick album perfect. It's a dumb joke that's actually kind of smart if you think about it.
The funny thing is that my cover actually grows on you if you listen to it like 3-5 times. It's super weird, like The Melvins. I wonder if Green Honey even sat through it once. Oh well. I still think it was a dick move. How big does ones ego have to be to cut a guy from a fun, free tribute just cause you don't like what they did? I've had all kinds of people tell me I'm brilliant, that Beara should be signed (and I'd bet money we would be if the other members weren't lazy asshats), that Beara was better live than signed bands they had paid to see, and it goes on and on. But honestly there's a certain joy I get in seeing people who take shit too seriously get pissed off. So....mission accomplished in pissing off Green Honey I suppose? I assure you I'm not mad though and just find the whole thing funny.
As far as making a new song goes it's just not in the cards for the foreseeable future for many reasons. My equipment isn't properly set up which is why my vocal cover of Revolve sounded like I was singing very quietly, I was in order to hear myself. I think my version is neat to hear once but that version doesn't have to end up on the official playlist. I'm also moving near Detroit very soon! As you can imagine the majority of my time is going to the move. Don't you occasionally go to shows there?
But I look forward to hearing more covers! You guys have kicked ass so far. 8)
Ok, so now you have to post that Track you submitted, I want to hear it now.

It's the same song that was resubmitted for the 3rd tribute. Here's the drum cam though. I have no idea why my drummer uploaded this without the camera angles that captured our creepy singer and our guy dressed as Jean Reno throwing VHS tapes at people. I guess it makes it weirder not knowing what they're doing out of frame.

I don't think I've listened to your cover until a few days ago when it was uploaded to YouTube. I thought it was good! The tribute was 10 years ago though so there's that. It's funny to read about yourself being called out for something I don't remember doing. The only problem I remember there being was a really petty issue with the Lovely Butterfly cover. But I apologise if that was the case with yours. Peacex

Schnabster is in the house!!!!!!!! Good job! Did make me laugh with the occasional spoken "Schnabster" inserted bits. Fascinating to think this is the first time i've heard his voice after knowing the man, the myth, the legend on here for so long!
Thanks for posting that Joan of Arc Grim.
Also, Eponymous' track was my favorite from the whole thing. quality shit.

No Talent is a band from Montesano, WA. That's the "No Talent" spray painted on the Melvan. Some of the members of No Talent are part of Starlite Agency, the Tribute II collaborators on "Night Goat". The Night Goat vocals where performed inside the Melvan, and sound great!
I'd love to hear any No Talent Melvan stories! I can always add any anecdotes to the Melvan Tribute "Video Details".
Thanks all involved!
