The film is on the way!!!

Im hoping that seeing the film will increase my appreciation of the Love disk.
:!:
Im liking it, although i am a bit confused about this one. Let me see if i've got this straight - the vinyl is JUST the Love side? Plus (based on what Buzz said last year) the movie soundtrack is going to be a shorter, or a condensed version, of Love?

I wonder why noctambulance won't join here and talk about this with us nerds? :nerd:

Im not sure if to be excited about this or not. Im very curious to see what the results are (the movie especially), but im still no clearer as to if the music is just the LOVE album as it already is. I suppose we will find out rather soon-ish.

Cool, another thing that I won't be able to afford since I bet is going to be pricey as hell or to watch since my Blu-ray player is old as fuck, oh well...
I don't think an old Blu-Ray player will have an issue playing this. Also, a new Blu-Ray player is $50.
So......any info on release besides the Haze vinyl package????
Sunday 12 pm central at Shoxop. I'll try to get one, really curious about the movie. No way there will be a screening here.
the above is the art package limited to 100.
haze posted another version on his instagram (at least the pic of the vinyl), so there might a second round. haze actually mentions 3 variants in that insta post.

Not in Chile, man... not in Chile. I bought "Black Swan" on Blu-ray many years ago and it couldn't play the disc, and I'm talking about a 100% US Blu-ray player that is connected to a voltage converter (in Chile, it's 220V).
A regular electrical outlet is 220V? Really?

In Germany it is 230V: Our taxes seem to be lower then :-D
I had no idea how ignorant I was about this stuff. 220V seems to be common! You could have an oven beside your bed?? Holy shit, I'd be so fat.

What?! WHY?!?! The region verification is on the software level, not hardware!
On most players you can switch the region lock off at a press of a few buttons! o_o (Sorry, I don't know why I think everyone knows this, but it
should be common knowledge)
Here's the list of instructions for every player: https://www.videohelp.com/dvdhacksJust look for the one that's cheap and good normally and see if it's in this list - problem solved.
The blu-ray is region free.
I know, a new blu-ray player is the most obvious answer but right now I need to save a LOT of money because I want to make several changes to my pedalboard (and I don't even have one, LOL) that I've been planning for at least two years... but most important, I must buy a power conditioner in september in order to prevent or reduce (at least) the noise level when I'm playing guitar once my carnivorous plants return to the mini indoor greenhouse after their dormancy process because DAMN... those LED lights and the heat mat sure don't get along with my amplifier at all.
That was surreal.
It's up! :o

MELVINS: "A Walk with Love and Death" Soundtrack: Deluxe Edition Set
Sold out
Don't kill me, but i'll wait until the movie appears on YouTube!
Well, *that* didn't take long!
Living on the Left Coast, I constantly get my time zones all mixed up.
Good thing a pal was watching out for me!!!
Oddly enough, just yesterday I felt inspired to go buy a BluRay player,
since I realized I had never watched the bonus disc from Color Of Noise.
I do tend to drag my heels a bit...

Seconded.
We'll do our best to keep it off of the internet. It will be available in other forms in the future. Don't be a shit talking thief.
Yeah I'll wait for the next iteration, less deluxe. I have a hard time imagining this will not be available to more folks. Too much went into it.

Can someone explain this line from the shoxop posting: "Can't stress this enough, film score here, not the previously released Ipecac album of the same name."
Does this mean that the record just released is different from the noise/experimental disc 2 of the Walk with love and death album?
It is a different version from the original.
According to a previous blurb, Jesse was responsible for the movie- did he collaborate on the soundtrack as well?

As i understood it, it's the exact SAME music used but a shorter run time of 33 minutes. So i guess it might be mixed or arranged quite differently or some left out all together.

I didn't detect that. I thought it sounded the same! Personally as far as the film itself goes, i kinda feel it will be less a "movie" or offer any kind of conventional narrative and instead be more a visual art thing. Basically like what the trailer is like.

#96. Just arrived on my doorstep. Beautiful 'bundle-like' packaging worth the price. An afternoon of melvins is now ahead of me....
received mine yesterday- got a text update when it was delivered, flawless
Can anyone confirm if it's the same audio as the 2xLP? I know this has been discussed, but now that people are getting physical copies I'm curious to hear the findings.

The recent release was black/red, there's a clear version with spots/speckles. Tour version coming? I'm guessing yes. Or.. possibly one to sell at upcoming movie showings?
This isn't to be taken as a moan, but i do wish the Love side of the album had ONLY come out with this movie. That the Death side of the album had been it's own thing with it's own separate title. I think that would have made more sense to have A Walk With Love & Death be ONE single Melvins release - the music and the movie together. To let Death be it's own thing.

Haze told me there will be 3 variants
I believe that the single disc soundtrack version of love/death has different (or slightly different) music than the 2xLP version, correct?
In that case, will the single disc version get a more widespread release then the inital run which was sold through shoxop a few weeks ago? How about the movie itself?
shoxop had the other 2 variants up.
it says 'sold out'... i did not notice any announcement, it's also only 20 copies... so no need for an announcement i guess. ...just for the lucky few!

hmmm... well, maybe someday I will find a copy (of just the movie, I mean).
So what's the deal with this movie and it's distribution? A standard Ipecac release coming on DVD with the full sdtk at some point, or strictly an uber-limited AmRep thing?
I could see Melvins testing this film/full sdtk as a pay-to-download/stream release. If that's the case I don't support. Put it out as physical media, and I'll buy. I won't even get in line for a freaking 20 count release through AmRep. That's ridiculous.
I'm guessing amrep only. Just a hunch.

You're probably right. This seems to be something for us hardcore fans only, a casual fan just isn't interested in this. And those who are certainly won't pay a dollar for it, just will stream it off youtube. File under NO COMMERCIAL POTENTIAL, as Frank would say. Is this movie the Melvins "Uncle Meat"?
Didn't the 51/51 movie sell alright?
Pink Flesh edition back up on Shoxop...
Thinking about the Off! movie reminded me about this. Have any of you guys seen this yet?? Also what's happening on the update front here as regards it's release? As far as i remember, wasn't the plan to release the DVD with the soundtrack in a more widespread manner? I know there has been the limited edition ones but i expected Ipecac to get on this at some point.

I was just thinking of the 51 in 51 movie. I bet no one has posted in that thread in over 2 years!
Part of the problem is nobody buys DVDs anymore. The masses just stream everything. When was the last time you heard of a band putting out a DVD as a widespread release? I still watch DVDs though, and would of course buy the movie.

Music DVDs.
Now that's a dead format.
I bought the vinyl with the Blu Ray last year. I watched it maybe twice. I have yet to watch it in an altered state which might be more fun.
Even though you can tell there was a lot if time and effort put into the film, I have a hard time imagining it has a wider audience than Melvins boardies. It's beautifully shot and creatively crafted and edited, but not a narrative film. It's more of an experiment.
I could see this being an avenue Buzz does for other bands if he enjoyed the process. Like maybe he'd do the title sequence of the OFF! Film and so on.
What was the guy from Void Manes involvement? Are there credits for that? Is the film shorter than disc 2 of the double album?
It's about 33 minutes long so shorter than the album.
Considering I love the LOVE disc from A WALK, I feel compelled to report that the shorter duration of the film audio does not mean the listening experience is significantly different.
Dried Blood edition of 100 on Shoxop now. $100.

Im hoping that seeing the film will increase my appreciation of the Love disk.
Two years later I get my answer - it didn't!
I watched it this morning on the Supersonic stream. Im glad i finally saw it. I can't actually believe it was 2 years ago that the film came out. Some of the film was neat and it was nicely put together but i did feel rather bored after 10 minutes or so. I would say it was pretty much as i expected. Lots of visual tricks and disparate images. The movie does make me want to go back and listen to the full LOVE record now. Although i still think that isn't really a release i like very much from the band.
