Yeah I did the same but the prices and even shipping were reasonable so not too bothered.
What a day to be a Melvins fan!

As far as reviewers and people who works in underground music news he's pretty well respected.
EDIT: Found the link. He's not wrong on that hot take about beardo white dudes. Overall it kinda caught me off guard. I don't think less of him over it.

Why do you ask, is it out of print on CD? Buzz once said it was their one Ipecac album where stores had the most returns to distributors. I'd guess there are plenty of used/never opened CDs out there.
Why is everyone jumping all over pre-orders through the Ipecac store when it doesn't come out for 3 months? Both of these reissues will be easily available via standard retail in February. I pre-ordered the new Mr. Bungle through Bullmoose a few weeks before release date. I had it in my hands the Wednesday of release week.
I think I'll play the wait and see game on these reissues. I wish they had gone back to Third Man. First off there's the vinyl itself. It had better be top quality, and secondly does anyone know if these are gatefolds, and with good quality cardboard stock? They should be, especially with H.A.T.
On the packaging of vinyl, the quality of the cardboard is important. Compare the cardboard stock on any of the Third Man reissue gatefolds to say NWB Ipecac gatefold. Third Man has good thick non-wavy stock, like an album from the 1970s. Ipecac and countless other labels lately do it on the cheap, and you get super this super-thin cheap ass cardboard. Am I the only one annoyed buy these things?
I agree with you on all fronts except that some of those colors are only a press of 500 so those will be hard to find. I wish I could give Ipecac the benefit of the doubt on the vinyl quality but there track record speaks for itself.
If anyone missed out, Bullmoose and Rough Trade have pre-orders up for GPT, HAT and the new record.

That's surprising. Bullmoose has always done an excellent job of packaging vinyl for me. Their customer service has always great too with returns and any problems. For instance the last Big Biz CD I ordered from them. It skipped, and they sent me a replacement without me having to return the defective one.

I use to order from them a pretty good bit because of the mailers they used, but my last order which was two lps was shipped in one of those standard lp mailers and it got beat to hell and back. I haven't ordered from them since. I don't know if they just temporarily ran out of the whiplash mailer or what. There are plenty of other good mailers for companies to use now there really is no excuse to use those horrible things anymore. I'm glad Haze finally upgraded the mailers he uses. It always sucked paying $50 for a record and it arriving with crushed corners, no fault of his own.

Some people have gotten some orders, but I'm guessing the majority of people who ordered are still waiting.

same as above but from the 18th
Via melvins social media, there's been a delay in the HAT pink/yellow versions, they'll be shipped out asap.
I must have gotten lucky because I ordered mine through Blixt and got mine early last week.
HAT was already sold out when I ordered GPT and Working With God so I got it from Bleep. Got notice the other day that it shipped and should take 5-7 business days but no link for tracking
just got pink HAT and listened to side 1. wife is on a zoom meeting so I can't crank side 2 for 30-45 minutes... ahhhhhhggg.
middle of the road as far as sound quality goes, but it's flat and not too horribly noisy. but it is pink, the packaging is great and it's fucking HAT!! on vinyl.
this album is pure FUN from start to finish and this release is very fun.
I'm a happy Melvins fanatic right now.
Any problems with warping?
Just got both vinyl re-issues today though I didn't listen to them just yet. The new artwork on Gluey is solid. Gluey has brand new liner notes, mainly detailing the recording process, the disastrous 1986 tour, Buzz's hatred for 7 Seconds and Eye Flys. Buzz does praise Carl Herlofssen for teaching them a lot of studio tricks and establishing the band's speedy and productive work ethic.
The HAT liner notes are pretty straight to the point. Buzz talks about how it's among one of the best things the band ever did, how the relationship with Toshi was established and that the whole album was tracked and mixed in 10 days, with the sessions no more than nine hours. He also jokes about how he'll never hear the vinyl as he prefers CDs.
Long overdue for a proper vinyl night.
Wow it'd be cool if they WOULD test out the vinyl so maybe Ipecac would raise their sound quality standards.
I got my gluey porch treatments yesterday, the lime green one,I hadn't listened to this record in a long time, it sounds fucking great, love it. Still waiting on my hat ones
Weird. CD Universe shipped my H.A.T. & WWG today, yet GPT is still on backorder. Not a big deal, I'm patient.
Got my pink HAT yesterday and played side 1 today. I think it sounds great, better than the CD (more detailed), but I recently changed my cartridge and can't make a full review until I get my original cartridge replaced. The liner notes are awesome
Also, I was super dubious about getting this as all Ipecac vinyl I have sounds like shit. This one is a HUGE improvement, and no warping!
Just picked up my complete order today, GPT, HAT and WwG :D
HAT sounds fine, just a bit of warp on it. GPT sounds really good on first listen though the labels are on the wrong sides

So happy to finally have this on a 12" slab. Been wishing for years to have it!
I saw the Melvins with Kevin several times and each time he was different. I will never forget the HAT tour, as they played at a club called North 6 (which eventually turned into the Music hall of Williamsburg). I played that CD to death in the weeks before the show. It was by far my favorite Melvins album to date, and they played most of the album and it was a truly remarkable event. ISIS opened up, I think. Kevin did not play slide bass to my memory. Maybe that was just for the album recording.
Also, for this HAT vinyl release, I think this is the first time Melvins have included lyrics to any of their songs on an album. Amirite?

I will never forget the HAT tour, as they played at a club called North 6 (which eventually turned into the Music hall of Williamsburg). I played that CD to death in the weeks before the show. It was by far my favorite Melvins album to date, and they played most of the album and it was a truly remarkable event. ISIS opened up, I think. Kevin did not play slide bass to my memory. Maybe that was just for the album recording.
Also, for this HAT vinyl release, I think this is the first time Melvins have included lyrics to any of their songs on an album. Amirite?
I know for sure Ozma had lyrics printed for most of the songs
Houdini had the lyrics to Hooch
Senile Animal has snippets of lyrics in the booklet
you're correct
Is it all the lyrics, or just snippets? Any mysteries solved?
Just lyrics to Anti-Vermin Seed and a short essay by Buzz on the album that basically just says nobody liked it when it came out. I think the first time I saw them live was right before this record came out and then the next couple times were on tour for it so it holds a special place in my heart. In my topic 5 Melvins records. The Fool The Meddling Idiot is amazing. They opened with it preceded by Kevin making noise for at least two of the shows I saw. It doesn't hurt that I smoked mad weed and tripped a lot during this period of my life. Haha.
Glow in the dark GPT and yellow in pink HAT are back up on Blixt. Second press or just the extras they kept in case of damage or post just losing shit?

Did anyone read the liner notes for GPT? Buzz gets savage with Lukin!
His hatred for 7 Seconds just comes out of nowhere too. And those comments about THE GOLDEN ERA are hilarious.
I found the Lukin comments hilarious, and I believe that part, but it's funny that nobody at Ipecac or in the band's circle fact-checked Buzz's liner notes. He says he should have called Ben Shepard from Soundgarden to finish the recording of Eye Flys. Umm, Ben joined Soundgarden in 1990 . Hiro Yamamoto was the Soundgarden bassist in '86. So did Buzz mean he should have called Hiro, or did he know Ben before he was in Soundgarden from Montesano school days, or is Buzz just rattling off bullshit?
Got my lime green copy a few days ago. Looks great, gonna spin it tonight.

Ben used to be in the band March of Crimes who the Melvins played with a few times. At the Melvins 1983 shows they covered March of Crimes "Soup Line". So yea they've known each other since the early days.
