Pretty in-depth and interesting interview:

http://sanfrancisco.cbslocal.com/2016/05/01/cbs-sf-talks-to-melvins-guitarist-buzz-osborne/

Apparently they have another album done, that's coming out after Basses Loaded at the end of this year:

Buzz - ''Yeah, we have a whole other album that's done, but it's a project that we can't even talk about yet. Hopefully it will come out by the end of the year. ''

Looks like the film is well underway!!!

Interview: Buzz Osborne of The Melvins on Former Bassist Kevin Rutmanis, Working With Tool and the Status of Fantomas
August 23rd, 2012

The one thing you can expect about The Melvins is that they play the game by their own rules. Interviews are no different.
The band is generous with their time and frequently do media interviews behind each release, but are notoriously snarky and
sarcastic when fielding questions. That's not to say they're mean-spirited, but you get the sense it's easy for them to be witty
and sarcastic, almost to the point that they enjoy it. In a brief interview with lead singer/guitarist Buzz Osborne right at the end
of one tour, and before they start up the biggest tour of their long career–a massive 51 show jaunt as their Melvins Lite
configuration with Trevor Dunn attempting to break a Guinness World Record for the fastest tour of the USA–Osborne is funny
even when being complemented. After commending him and his band for the lack of rock star bullshit, he quips, "We have a lot
of bullshit, but it's not rock star bullshit."

A 51-show tour in 51 days seems like a daunting task to most, and while many bands lament the struggles of being on the road,
Osborne seems unconcerned. "Most of those people are probably doing a lot of extracurricular activities in the 'chemical refreshment'
department. That's probably wearing them out more than anything else," he replies with a hint of knowing sarcasm. "I mean it's tiring,
you know, it's all relative. Compared to what? Know what I mean? Compared to a guy digging for a living, or working on a tuna boat.
I doubt we're going to get tired."

Recently The Flaming Lips staged a similar stunt to coincide with MTV's O Music Awards, breaking the world record for most shows
in multiple cities in 24 hours. Throughout the stunt Guinness Book of Records representatives verified that the band was in line to break
the record. When asked if The Melvins planned to employ a similar tactic to certify their achievement Osborne (sometimes referred to
as King Buzzo) seemed reluctant to employ that degree of extravagance. "Well in order to do that, you have to pay the Guinness people.
It's an awful lot of money. I'll just leave it at that. If you can wait and then do the paperwork, you still get the same thing. In order to
have them there it costs thousands of dollars."

He goes off on a humorous tangent about an aborted attempt in the '80s by George Thorogood to break the record. He explains,
"The people always say George Thorogood did it. But if George Thorogood did it, why isn't he in the record book? You know why he's
not in the record book? He didn't do it!" He continues, "He's obviously not the Guinness world record holder. Clearly not. I can say I've
done all kinds of things. Whether it's a world record is anyone's guess. I can say I have it. 'I climbed Mount Everest first.' I did it. Now
that I've said it, it's true."

And although he jokes about the frivolities of a Guinness world record attempt, he's far more serious and tight-lipped about a string
of recently announced collaborations. The band's drummer Dale Crover revealed to Metal Sucks that the band has been working on
some covers of Venom (with Scott Kelly of Neurosis), Roxy Music (with Jello Biafra and former bassist Kevin Rutmanis) and Queen
(with Caleb Bird of Tweak Bird). When asked what songs they're covering he offers simply, "I don't want to tell yet, because we're
not done with them yet. We're going to do a compilation, and then we're going to put out single records, 12 inches. A whole bunch
of tribute records that we're doing, lots of people we like."

He does speak openly about a recently announced EP by The Melvins 1983 configuration of the band. He explains, "We also have a
1983-era Melvins record coming out. Four song EP, we recorded new stuff with the original drummer [Mike Dillard] and Dale playing
bass. That comes out soon. We're really looking forward to that as well." Is this a sign that the band might begin touring not only the
standard lineup of the band (with drummer Coady Willis and bassist Jared Warren) and Melvins Lite, but also The Melvins 1983? Osborne
is skeptical stating, "No, not as much. Maybe just a few shows, Dillard's got his hands full with three kids and he's a union machinist.
It's difficult for him to get the time off." He adds a joke at the end, "The rest of us are losers. So we can take all the time off we need."

This also begs the question of the band's sudden reunion with former bassist Kevin Rutmanis on the aforementioned Roxy Music cover.
Does this mean the band may begin performing and recording with Rutmanis again? On this one Osbourne explains, "No. That's a one-off.
We're also playing with him on the 51 date tour playing with his band in Vegas and in Los Angeles." He continues, "Yeah, we have no
plans to do that. None at all. To even venture that that may happen is really putting the cart before the horse."

Since there are now so many configurations of The Melvins, would the band consider doing a special mini-festival highlighting all their
current incarnations? It sounds possible, but far from the drawing board right now. Osborne replies, "Next year is our 30th anniversary,
we might do something like that. But it would be relatively limited, considering how much time the drummer would only be available.
We couldn't do a huge deal. It's likely we'll do something."

Also, legions of diehard Mike Patton fans have been rumoring for some time that a new Fantomas album (which Osborne plays guitar for)
is in the works. Not true, says Osborne. "That's absolute nonsense. No way that anything like that has happened. That doesn't mean it won't
happen. But right now, no, that's not happening." Apparently the group hasn't done any writing or recording either. He elaborates, "None at all.
We haven't been in a studio since 2003. Patton's project. If he wants to do it, I'll work around it. His schedule. We haven't done a live show
since 2008. Honestly, I have no idea."

As for The Melvins' one-time collaboration with Tool on The Crybaby, he's optimistic that the two bands might rejoin to write more original material
but confirms nothing has been planned. "Well you know, I would do whatever they wanted to. They're busy doing their own record right now, somehow.
I obviously don't have any idea how that's working for them. I do know they've been working on it for a while. But I would say yes. There's nothing
in the works." Before concluding, Osborne offers one more appropriately funny remark. "I mean, neither band is going to last forever. It's like I tell
people, 'If you don't like what we're doing now, all you have to do is wait.' We won't do it forever, then you won't have to worry about it."

Melvins Lyrics & Tabs / 2012 - The Bulls & The Bees
March 20, 2012, 05:56:56 PM
THE WAR ON WISDOM

They may be moving
I must have missed my calling
Circle and a cover for the night
Semaphore

The world is watching
I must have missed my calling
Target on a mission for the head
Nothing's gonna matter now

The time is perfect
I must have missed my calling
I don't want to ruin to the raw
Civilize

Devout, you're the one that they're talking about
Only the living will have to find the way
Clean house, not even a mouse
They take one good look and they figure it out
Mice have the sense when to go and when to stay

Breathe uneasy
Sold a sea
To washer women and chasing eyes
Secret on the passing passage of the right

WE ARE DOOMED

It's amazing
Turn around and look at the whole thing
All together and take a big black bite of me

I was lonely, and there ain't a whole lot of holding on, going on

You were dreaming
I slept while you did the thinking
Thought a long time and took a big green bite of me

He was crazy, and there ain't a whole lot of holding on, going on

We were happy
Don't know which way I was crawling
Shook around here, and stole a big mean bite of me

It was heavy, and there ain't a whole lot of holding on, going on

Monotone gaze and I won't forget it
Mini tone monster tower now you won't need it

You said no one cares, no one cares about you
I'm amazed how you move around like you have to

FRIENDS BEFORE LARRY

Happy thoughts and golden dreams
For everyone and everything in the world

A REALLY LONG WAIT

The place where I sleep is cold and abandoned
You can't even fathom a hole being dug so deep

NATIONAL HAMSTER

Better notice
And I want to be so falling down and foreign now
And it takes my sign along

Front and backwards
Keep my hands away and keep my wicked deadly nine
Hand it over

Can you ever try to guess my name
You can save it for a lady single
Running up like a local hero
You won't be here tonight
I can tell you that I'm overjoyed
Nothing more will happen to you

This is King Buzzo of the Melvins Hiwatt 4X12"guitar cabinet! Used by Buzzo live and in the studio from the
mid 90's until present day! Cabinet is 16 ohms and has Celestion speakers (50 watts we think). Some tears in
the tolex from the normal wear and tear of touring. Cabinet is in perfect working condition! Own a piece of

WHAT A SHOW!!!!

Here's my take on the day and the evening.

I get to the venue around 7pm, start chatting with the one other person there,
a guy named Luke. I have a 2 litre bottle of cider with me so I share it with him,
topping up his empty Arizona Ice Tea can a few times etc, and lo and behold
out of the blue we hear 'The Water Glass', then 'Night Goat', we both look at
each other stunned!! We're at the venue just as the band have started their
soundcheck!!! We get to see the band soundcheck about 6 or 7 songs for the
next 40 mins!!! Each of us taking turns peering through these glass doors that
line the front of the venue. The sound is as clear as day! Awesomeness!!

Shortly thereafter a dude in a tom waits shirt walks up and recognizes
my board shirt, I recognize his. He's a member from the board who
goes by 'fishheadphil'. We exchange hellos, talk about the show, how
amazing it's going to be, then him, myself and luke stroll around the corner
to continue drinking and chatting and 'phil' gets me stoned! thanks for the
green. As we share some booze and green a trio of misfits from Sarnia roll up
and offer us all a few tokes from their cigar sized joint, I don't know what
was in it but I got instantly uber stoned.

We all sort of realize a line is forming so we all get in line and continue shooting the
breeze, talking about the show, looking at our tickets and making sure that
they're still there in our hands for the amazing experience we are about to have.

Around this time a goateed cat and a few friends of his walks by the line and he
says 'anaconda?' I say yes sir, and I've met my second memeber of the night who's on
this board. He goes by the name 'flutter nuts' but I call him flutter cuz it's weird saying
'nuts' to another dude. lol. Anyways, we let him and his friends cut in line with us, I say
no board member is going to the back of the line on my watch!! So we chat a bit and finally
the line starts moving, after about 20 mins or so we're in the venue.

At this point I head straight to the railing at the front of the stage, I want to get a good view
so I'm jostling a little bit with this one guy but then we both realize, hey we smoked a joint earlier!!
it's one of the guys from Sarnia!! I give him a $20 bill and say go get us some alcohol and I'll
hold your place here on the railing...normally i dont hand my money to strangers but he came back
a few minutes later with a couple beers for each of us. I think his name was Mike, if you're reading this,
thanks for the amazing joint you smoked with me.

By this time the place is filling up almost to capacity, people are starting to get rowdy in anticipation,
it's about 9:30 and some of us have been drinking and smoking for a couple hours now, a few people
start chanting 'melvins, melvins', i chant 'buzz ... buzz ... buzz!!!!' A dickhead security guard warns me
to cool down, I say 'it's been over 10 years man!!! i'm excited!!! he loosens his grip on my arm and shoves
off with a grin, later this same dickhead removed me from the railing at the front and
escorted me to the back of the venue 'to mellow down' as he put it. Under my breath I'm saying fuck you,
but out of my mouth comes yes sir, sir. Fucking goons need to lighten up a bit. Anyways, I mellowed down
for all of 30 secs until I was out of his sight and I headed straight for the railing again!

It's about 9:45 and the crowd is beginning to realize that there will be no opener for this show,
we all start thinking double set?? melvins lite?? etc.  Then amidst all the chatter and chanting
some piped in theme music is playing over the PA, and finally....the Melvins take the stage!!!!

They played a vast collection of songs with every member visibly giving 110%! Buzz was a joy
to watch, the man is hands down my favorite guitarist. Another thing that really stood out for
me is how amazing dale and coady are together!! The melvins can never go back to having one
drummer, the air that they were pushing was awesome

Melvins Discussion / Buzz's best interview
November 22, 2005, 03:34:31 AM
This one comes from Holland 2001 and he touches on alot of stuff, bands, scenes, etc
This is also the infamous jello-bashing interview where he calls him meaningless and
a boob!! It's funny listening to this now with the current state of the melvins, basically buzz
comes off as a hypocritical self-contradicting ass head in light of what he said back then

Melvins Discussion / having two drummers.
July 15, 2005, 10:28:27 PM
Allman Brothers and Royal Trux have 2 drummers. Will it all be like the monstermillenium thing? like when Crover and Lombardo had at it on the tandem kit.. is this good? bad? a novelty??

is it long term, just thoughts..
#31
I've got Civil War Fantasy, it's fucking tight!

I have Our Darling, arguably their best album, very diverse

I have the Atamont/Acid King debut split
(Acid King put Altamont to shame on this.)

I have an Altamont live bootleg that Grim or Beto sent me,
I still rock it to this day, and I got it almost two winters ago!

anyways, shout back
#32
This version is truly fucking amazing, this is so much better than
the CD version, the guy screaming from the audience at
the beginning must have been a plant, he was screaming
at the band in time!! but ya,

it's really the Melvins going back to their roots, playing a good riff
over and over a million times and bludegeoning us while they do it!!
Dale's intuition is superior, he sounds like he improvised this whole
set but its singular in it sense of purpose nonetheless. Dale's Army
#33
#34
I got the Jello Melvins CD today and the first 3
tracks are amazing where they are channeling old
Black Flag, and DK riffs, buzz is doing his imitation of
Greg Ginn right down to the squeaky solos and its
great but around song 5 it starts to get thin, until they
rape your mind again in Dawn of Locusts, track 8!! I <3 IT!!

The packaging is beautiful, and this album is a better
complete package/concept/idea/execution than Pigs!!

I seriously believe that. IN GOD WE RUST.

Melvins Discussion / Joe Preston mp3 of the Week

I'm going to start putting up a different Preston mp3 each week.
I've decided to start with one from the Men's Recovery Project
CD 'Resist the New Way' since it was an overlooked band/release.
The song is called "New Talking Sausages"
