"I have been a massive Melvins fan since I first saw them play live in Seattle around 1985. They were a huge influence on me as a musician and big part of our local Seattle burgeoning underground rock music scene in the 80s. I reconnected with the Melvins in 2019 when they performed at the Chris Cornell tribute concert in Los Angeles. After the show, I emailed Buzz and asked if he, Dale, Steven and Toshi could help me record some solo material I had kicking around. I also collaborated with Seattle musician/producer Nate Yaccino and Meagan GrandallI on this release. I thoroughly enjoyed the experience, completely dug the results and decided to pay homage to the Melvins by reimagining the artwork (with their permission) from their groundbreaking record Gluey Porch Treatments. $77 seems crazy, there's been more than a few being sold on eBay for 25-30.
Rough Trade shows it as $22. In store today and online order tomorrow. Going to go do rounds hopefully today and see if I can snag one.
Went out mid afternoon to Revolver Records, near Buffalo. They had stocked at least one, but it was gone. Ended up getting Captain Beefheart - Shiny Beast(2LP), and The Jesus Lizard - Blue. So overall a good Black Friday RSD for me. Will have to hear more of this and some reviews here before I go the ebay route.
The shithole area I live in has one halfway decent record store that's not really even a record store, just a small room in the back of a book and game store. That said, I got the Cameron vinyl as well as Jesus Lizard - SHOT on orange/black vinyl and Corrosion Of Conformity - NO CROSS NO CROWN on beer colored vinyl.

That seems right. Weird that I went to 3 area RSD stores on Saturday(1 in Buffalo, 2 in Rochester), and none to be found. But they all had the Beefheart Shiny Beast. Did these mostly end up on the west coast? Did all the Pearl Jam fans scoop them up? Bullmoose (in Maine) always has RSD leftovers. I got up early Sunday morning to check their online sale. They didn't have any left over either.

I think there were 2,500 pressed. I'm thinking Amoeba Records 3 locations alone probably each got 50? Then record stores in the Pacific Northwest probably ordered up a ton. I just don't see Pearl Jam fans picking it up...Soundgarden and Melvins fans for sure. I think Pearl Jam fans were at IKEA on Record Store Day.
Also, wtf is this RSD "Black Friday" shit? I thought I was only supposed to feel bad about buying my records cheaper off Amazon one day a year.

Do a search for record stores around the country. This morning a friend of mine in California found one that a record store in New Jersey put up online for $23.99 and snagged it

I'd forgot about that little tidbit he revealed. We've had Melvins TV before so we may as well have a podcast now too! I wonder who else is featured - all Melvins related folk or all sorts of people.
Finally hearing this record and I am REALLY glad I tracked one down. If you are a fan of golden era Soundgarden you'll love it. If you like any of the Melvins collabs (Jello, Crystal Fairy, Mike &, etc.) it gives you roughly the same level of Melvinyness. If you file this under Melvins no one in their right mind will bark at you. (Though I question anyone's nonverbal lupine reaction to your alphabetizing of memorabilia.)
Five songs. Short. Cool rhythms. Solid vocals. Good melodies. Buzz is mostly the shrill side of chugging. But that works with these songs. Seek it out if you haven't already.
thanks for the review, checked out that on song with the video and ordered it from discogs. ebay still too high
So happy with this review Amazon. Wasn't sure if I should get this or not, and living in Aus, prices ranged from $60 to $80 AUD. Found one in Brissy for $50 and pulled the trigger still in unsure mind. Should be arriving in the next few days. Can't wait now.

Just had a listen, hmmm pretty good. It did fly past and sounded a bit like Buzz and Dale in there somewhere. For some reason i expected it to sound a bit more Melvins-y. A solid release there.
don't know why but i feel a QOTSA vibe, not too far from Foo Fighters territory too. :)

Do what I accidentally did the first time I played it....play it at 33rpm
listened again. Foo Fighters? maybe the first album (if you squint your eyes, er...ears) but has elements of danger and rawness i haven't heard in FF since the 90s. modern FF is basically punk flavored Bon Jovi, it's so polished and formulaic. :D
I still get a strong Superunknown vibe. Even though Matt's songs there were less memorable than "Rhinosaur," "Room a Thousand Years Wide," and "Drawing Flies" I think these songs really resemble more of the Cornell compositions on Superunknown.
