A random/crappy cover my friend and I did for a B-Side for our band, TVhugs. We picked the most random Melvins song we could think of and came up with ANAL SATAN. (Warning, took some creative liberties with it and Butthole Surfered it a bit).

i play(ed) in 2 bands that have done a melvins cover.

first one is a band i'm currently in which i sing and play bass in called SHEVIL (stolen from the Melvins of course).  we consist of 3 bassists, and a drummer and are from Moncton, NB, Canada.

*Edit* I thought this was a troll thread for a second since everyone has only one post.  Then I read the Melvins facebook...nevermind...carry on.

Somehow my Butthole Surfers-esque band ended up opening up for some emo kids a few years ago.  We decided to do a GG Allin tribute (sort of) and basically just fuck with people the whole time.  We covered "A History of Bad Men" and "The Bit" while our singer purposely screamed like GG Allin.  Not particularly well practiced or anything but it was a lot of fun and emo kids had to listen to The Melvins!

Drums + 6 string Guitar 

A friend and I played 5 or 6 shows in 2005/2006, billing ourselves as The Frontbutts, and playing nothing but MELVINS.  A great, fun time. 

2 of those shows were recorded by a friend with a video camera. 

These are the only 3 songs I have audio for, at the moment. 


Thanks to Dale, Buzz, and all the other melvins for being the Greatest Band on Earth.  Ya'll have made a huge impact on my life.

That was like... 3-4 years ago. I'd have to re-figure out that guitar riff. It wasn't quite right to begin with but was as close as I could muster.

Also alot of those vocals are made up on the spot because I had no clue what Buzz was actually singing...

Another artist I mixed into the music is Pollux from France.
I had an easy time remixing Lustmords sound with looping sections of his sounds. Maybe Changed the pitch Defiently add the GOOD OLD DELAY.
Reversed The Guitar and Drum Parts that the melvins play But at the end of the day who knows what each memembers did in this song.
You Might think Lustmord is doing some of the Ambient Drone but It could very well be the Melvins and vice versa with the music intsruments.
I didn't add any of my own sounds just played around with the Sounds.
I am a beginner when it comes to Remixing but I guess a got alot of advice from listening to CHICKEN SWITCH.
I love remixes that AINT the Fucking Same Looped Drum Beat and CHICKEN SWITCH had some great REMIXES that Are FUCKED WITH PURE GENIUS.
But Like Everything From The Melvins ITS FUCKED IN A GOOD WAY.

Though this is not the complete recording of the cover as our cam turned off in between because of low battery while we were recording this, but we managed to record the start and end of the cover in two parts but unfortunately the mid part of the cover wasn't recorded!!! well there´s no that many venues that promote bands of our style, but there is a few for rock like: alicia, bizarro café, and real under, boris and spiritual beggars are coming to mexico city in may, and I don´t know about iguanas in tijuana though, there used to be one called la iguana azul in mexico city in the 90´s.

Jenny- Cool cover, just checked out your original song Nuit....very cool. I like your guitar tone, what's your set-up? Almost looks like an Ultra GP guitar. Your tone reminds me a lot of Josh Homme's tone when he was in Kyuss...and he is one of my idols so that is meant as a compliment!

hello everybody,

I made a shitty version of Let It All Be (the second part). i play drums and guitar
theres no vocals.
its a very simple version, with the drums panned to the left and guitar to the right (thats why the guitar is quiet)
it kinda sounds like the original, but its uh 'simpler' i didnt look up tabs or anything i just played how i wanted it to sound
it is very repetative thats why i included pictures of people who look funny. if that doesnt humor/occupy you than skip to 5:00 where it gets intense.

This is nice, but to be honest I hope to hear something less note-for-note and... instrument-for-instrument, arrangement-for-arrangement, whatever. Basically what I'm trying to say is that I think your Cow cover is the best because it has something the original doesn't. I always thought a cover is useless if it's basically an exact copy of the original. No offense, though!

yeah i hear you there! actually the reason for my covers has been to test my recording skills. like ok heres a song, how well can you make it sound and can you mimic this recording style and stuff like that. of course that also reveals how actually bad the covers are when you look at it that way haha

Okay well I guess this is a "remix" -- I took and phase reversed a specific feature from a specific Melvins song (which I'm sure you all will never guess) and made it into a drone ambient track.
