Awesome road story!

I can't believe they were smart enough to bring the tools necessary to pull an engine and change cylinders.

I changed a timing chain in the long term parking lot at the airport in Butte, Montana. Had to fly back to Seattle to get the tools and parts required for the job..

I was wondering about this as well.  Who only brings $20 or so bucks on a trip, but tools to tear down an engine?  Are vw engines that much easier to tear down?
