Right I've got tickets for both nights.
Who else is in?
This is going to kick ASS!!!!!!!!!
I'm in, both nights!
I just posted in the 2013 live thread as well but I live in London and can provide sofas/floor space if anyone needs to stay. norecess stayed with me once and he is still alive
I'm in, both nights!
me and lewis from next door, both nights.
Definitely gonna be there both nights, no matter what it takes! I was seriously considering travelling to Vienna before they announced the London shows, sounds way too good. If anything I wish they were playing every album over a whole week...
Quick question to people, is the only way ticketmaster at the moment? I just added both nights to the basket, but they seem to have no way of paying for them together, which means a double dose of £5.50 on postage. I'd probably lump a few other shows in there as well if they sorted that out....
I got mine from ............
http://www.eventim.co.uk/melvins-Tickets.html?affiliate=EUK&doc=artistPages%2Ftickets&fun=artist&action=tickets&kuid=248587 (http://www.eventim.co.uk/melvins-Tickets.html?affiliate=EUK&doc=artistPages%2Ftickets&fun=artist&action=tickets&kuid=248587)
Both nights all up was £54.50 or about that including postage of tix.

Ticketmaster is crap - Seetickets are cheaper and still have Melvins available.
Sunday's selling fast, though, so don't dawdle.
Ahh nice, sounds a lot better than 62 or whatever. Gigantic also have the dates listed, but saying sold out, so maybe they're just being slow about it all. I'll probably use that site tho, thanks very much!
The Residents on the 18th, then 2 days of Melvins. Crazy weekend

*EDIT* I've just checked the prices. No rats. Jesus, Schnab, is the Norwegian Oil Industry paying for your rooms?
*EDIT EDIT* I forgot you come from Norway. This is more inexpensive for you, isn't it? What costs me a months wages is around the same as a blow job and a kebab for you. My bad.
700 pounds, split between 4, we share rooms two and two. We have perhaps enough money, but we're not naive, we pick the cheap solution if we can.

It's uncool to see anything before Melvins. The match result has already been fixed, the place will be full of skinhead nazi turds, all the players are trillionaire mysoginists and the ref's a cunt. Come to the pub.

Well, you have a chance on the Victoria Line. There are people who haven't been seen since 1938 still stuck on the Northern Line between Highgate and Archway due to bad signalling.
PS. Cockfosters is a place. Not an Australian form of brewer's droop.
It seems to be a pretty genuine concert-place:
Max capacity on 1500, I guess The Melvins will have full capacity on both shows, 3.000 tickets, wich is not bad at all.
Yeah it's a good venue and Melvins will make a few bucks more than usual hopefully. I hope there's some awesome merch happening!
I'm afraid I'm not a football type of guy Schnabz but we'll all hook up after your game wraps up dude.

I'm actually seriously considering this - bought London tickets on the basis of it being their only UK Residency show. Sound in the Exchange last Monday was spot-on. Great little venue.

Cool! Nearly 80 shows between us! I'm wearing a Melvins dagger hoodie. I'll keep an eye out for your pink sack...............
Bwahahaha...Steady on, luv! Don't want to give people the wrong idea!
It's black but the pirate is pink! The only reason I say that is I haven't decided what I am wearing tonight...anyway, see ya in a bit and enjoy the Ginger Baker doc...
great show. I was in the white amrep back print.
I was running late so popped into the Prince at around 7.30. Soon realised that this was pretty futile as doors were already open and I don't actually actually know what any of you look like! Had a quick pint of Leffe (£5.80?!) and pissed off to the gig.
Bristol for me next tomorrow as a warmup for Primavera - work permitting I'll be in the Stag and Hounds before hand.
I'm not very active here - you can almost count my posts on the fingers of a mitten. But I was there last night and shall be again tonight. Grey-haired four-eyed old git, maybe wearing an Undersmile/Coma Wall T.

What happened?
Security got really heavy handed with a crowd surfer. Gave the kid a couple of digs and a headbutt. Next bit I don't know what happened. Couple of minutes later the security started to mass up then steamed into the middle to pull the dude out. He didn't go quietly. I think a couple of the staff got punched by the dudes friends. That got them frenzied. Acted like fucking savages. My sons girlfriend got hit in head by one of them. Then they just went in hard on anyone who challenged them over their heavy handedness. It ruined an awesome set.
One insecurity guy took a drum stick off someone outside the venue as people were leaving and refused to give it back. The guy was heartbroken: "But the drummer gave it to me." So unnecessary.
On a brighter note: Jared's turban was hilarious and beautiful.
Tonight: Oldernie, Mac and Mrs. Bastard, SL, Helen83, Monkey L.Duffy.
Helen and I went to the cinema. Kind of a first date thing.
2 lads shouting for there friend kevin all night ruined it for me.
if you heard/saw this too, or you are on here,
i am the guy that took your iphone out of your hand and told you to shut the fuck up if you want it back. i hope i meet you again.
that sucks, Ernie. sorry it was ruined for you. really shitty to have an evening out ruined by inconsiderate assholes.
QuoteCoady Willis @Coadydrums 3h
Good goddamn London, thanks for 2 insane shows! Less punching next time, but good (and weird) vibes by and large!
yeah. sounds like an interesting show. too bad about overzealous security. that always sucks.
The missus and I were trying to figure out what was going on there with the crowd. Lame.
I was behind the sound engineers all night - the resident soundie and his mate looked at each other and one said "Not him again", so I guess the security guy is well known for it by the staff at the venue. Hopefully he'll get his P45 today.
That said, the crowd seemed to be better on Sunday night over Monday.
Petty I know, but some young girl walked round and round the venue all night staring at her phone in her hand. It was a struggle to get past her - and we watched as others had the nightmare, too. I was pretty happy when some guy frustratingly tried to walk past her, but she just kept moving forwards into him never around...so he just swiped her aside. She looked shocked. It seemed to be a long time coming.
The real boner revealed himself at the start of the second set. I think Lividity was the opening song. 10 mins of build up only for some tool to shout "Get on with it" right before they kicked into the next song. Buzz hushed him, thankfully but it killed it for me.
I could probably understand that at a regular show, but when you are going to watch them exclusively play two LP's, surely you know what to expect, right??
I will never understand why some pay to go see a show and end up chatting instead of watching and listening, especially back with the bar behind the mix area on saturday. Is it even possible to chat on a Melvins-gig?

Unfortunately, yes. I've seen it/heard it dozens of times. I'll never understand it.

Un-fucking-believable. What an anus jibblet.
I had an absolutely cracking night, I think I enjoyed last night more than Sunday. Apart from the security which was quite shocking - their 'technique' for handling crowdsurfers seemed to be wait until they get near to the barrier and then punch them to the ground, then keep on punching them a bit more! They could have put signs up saying 'no crowdsurfing' but they didn't. The bit where the security all piled in to the crowd to grab the guy was in the noisy two minutes or so at the start of Magic Pig Detective - Buzz was leaning over to see what was going on. It was a bit surreal.

What do they expect when even Jared throws himself into the crowd at the end on sundays gig? That says for all that thats ok.
id like to see those same security guys at a trash talk show.
they would really have there work cut out then.
as i said before, these idiots shouting kevin all night, i was saying to them, to shut up and that i came to listen to the band and not them,
but also if the band could hear them shouting kevin, although they were looking for there friend, it could sound like an insult like they are shouting for kevin rutmanis,
they were just a pair of drunk kids, but i was surprised when i started having a go at them that no one else chimed in with me, as if i was the only one annoyed with this playground mentality.
I'm glad to see all those attitudes, insecurity guys as much as unbearable crowd, are not specific to France. I'm sad it exists everywhere though, and it ruined the evening for many of you. Lame.
Anybody with anything to say about the security last night - here's a link to contacting the venue:
http://www.electricbrixton.com/contact.php (http://www.electricbrixton.com/contact.php)
Only went on Sunday (little bloke in effeminate, too small, red Art Brut tee shirt with larger bald friend standing at the back with my back to the mixing desk), didn't see any boardies (only know oldernie and Jules) did pop my head into the Prince beforehand but didn't recognise anyone (and went across the road for slightly cheaper beer).
That disappointment aside, Sunday's show was almost perfect, the best I've seen the 2 drummer line-up play. Super dense sound, closing your eyes the soundscape conjoured was a giant black granite ball rolling through tar crushing tall buildings as it went. They were great, really wish I'd got a Monday ticket :(.
Almost perfect? There was a lot of bottle throwing going on (one ended up on stage as Jared pointed out, but more went back into the mass of the crowd). These people are cunts and deserve death. Also, £4.50 for a 330ml bottle of Beck's???? Get to fuck.
Sorry I missed you all :(

They didn't get him, they got my mate instead. The guy who instigated it all was totally out of control, and was looking for confrontation with anyone as soon as he entered the crowd. What really irks me is that as soon as one of them acts like a thug (as was the case last night) all of them follow suit, and any notion of doing what they are supposed to do and defuse any situation is ignored in favour of indulging in bullying and thuggery. I've worked in venues for all my adult life, and that is with out doubt the worst crow control (sic) i have ever witnessed.
I will ask that if anyone who knows of any footage of what happened could please send it to me. My friend has been offered a refund for his ticket,a nd were going to be making further complaints to the security company today.

I was right next to him. I saw your mate describe what had happened to the crowd surfer earlier* (your mate lifted his fist and made punching movements) - the moment he did that, around four bouncers piled in and dragged him out, knocking everyone in their way for six. Totally uncalled for.
*disclaimer: at least that's how I saw it.
Awesome, awesome show though. Melvins are always on fire in London. The fisticuffs added to the madness.
I've made a complaint to the venue. Never seen that level of unprofessionalism from a security firm in the 35 years I've been going to gigs.
Hi everybody! I just joined to say that I had such an awesome time last night! They rocked!!!!! :D :D :D Yeah that bouncer seemed out of control - tweeted the venue. But none of that or the guy calling out that Buzz shushed could ruin in for me. I loved it and loved seeing how much everyone else was into it!
Holy shit the bouncer headbutted that guy?!!! Fucking psycho!!
Headbutting is a bit next level, eh? for a 'professional', thats way uncalled for no matter the situation.
I was at the front slightly to the right all night, so I saw that guy getting nutted from a distance, wouldn't have believed it if he didn't get punched to the ground afterwards., totally unnecessary  I think the song before that maybe, there was another guy floating over the top, so i turned round to help push a leg or whatever, but before he got to the front that same bouncer jumped up and punched him to the floor as well!! You've gotta wonder what that felt like if half a dozen people drop you because of it, kinda ruined the mood :?
Other than that fantastic sets both nights, never really listened too intently to the drums on Bullhead and Lysol before, or just not listened to them enough, think I might REALLY start to love those albums now :D Enjoyed Lividity a lot too. There's definitely a reason so many people catch them 3 times every tour they come round hehe
Thankfully there was a silver lining in all this, as we found a sympathetic voice from none other than Thurston Moore outside the Electric after we went to meet my mate after he had been kicked out. :D
Just watched a documentary about bouncers in Bristol. Looking forward to tomorrow even more now :D
Sounds like y'all went to Emo's in Austin.
Incredible set again last night from Melvins although it was soured by Electric Brixton's security causing large scale chaos and violence. I'd have to say that the Bullhead/Stoner Witch show was trumps for me......I totally thought it'd be the other way around.
Back to security's behaviour though.......I was right in the middle about 6 or 7 meters back from the front so I got a pretty good view of the unadulterated primitive violence carried out by the Electric Brixton security......It looked to me that it really started to get ugly with the young guy who was hoisted up by friends (from what I saw) and found himself crowd surfing and having a ball doing so when all of a sudden his fun came to an abrupt end when he neared the barricade and was pounded AND head butted by a security staff member who was about 260 pounds of pure angry muscle. This young kid must've been about half the size and did nothing to deserve that insane assault imo.
From there it got a lot worse.....security were basically acting like hyenas hunting in packs and rushing the crowd in waves and causing brawls.....people who were getting assaulted by these goons found other members of the crowd (pals?) fighting back on their behalf.....it was pretty surreal and strange stuff??
A young lady punched one security guy in the chops right in front of me during one of their attacks and I was glad to see he didn't retaliate.....I did hear later of woman getting assaulted by these goons though during the violent process of "crowd control".
On top of that shameless behaviour I found it really sad that security took the drum stick of some dude that was given to him.
All of this mindless and insane violence was sound tracked by a barrage of drums and massive amounts of guitar and bass feedback which kind of fitted it perfectly funnily enough. But yeah security were far more brutal than the Melvins live show last night.....and I think that's saying something!
Two thumbs up Melvins
Two thumbs down to Electric Brixton's security staff.
Oh yeah and that Ginger Baker documentary was totally awesome!!! hahaha

So I take it it was your mate that was pounded and head butted when he neared the barricade after his surf??? If that carry on happened on the street that staff member would be facing a probable prison sentence. If they don't want crowd surfing then I suggest they have signs like Brixton Academy......
(http://i32.photobucket.com/albums/d40/MinistryFiend/brixtonsign_zps8af0ccd8.jpg) (http://s32.photobucket.com/user/MinistryFiend/media/brixtonsign_zps8af0ccd8.jpg.html)
No signs like the above @ Electric Brixton so they really have NO excuse for their actions. Professional staff would've caught the young guy and safely put him on the ground in front of the barricade and escorted him back into the crowd. Those security guys simply hated the music, the band and the crowd.......the crowd were obviously the easiest thing to take their hate out on.
Loved it that Dale and Coady extended the finish of Roadbull because the crowd singing was so awesome....

Did you know that it is an actual fact that Lysol is the best thing ever? True story.
Shot from Sunday's show (I have many variations on this). Note Jared's home made armour and headgear :D

I ran into Thurston in Notting Hill Music and Video Exchange earlier that day and had a quick chat with him... He said he was thinking about going to the show the night before, so I told him how brilliant it was and that they were playing again that night...
In the madness of crowdsurfers and security guards one of the lenses was knocked out of my glasses. Fuck knows how, but I managed to pick it up and put it back in without getting crushed...
Two brilliant shows. My 4th and 5th time seeing the Melvins, but definitely the best. Last time I saw them in London Coady was absent, so it was great to see him playing with them again. It's a totally different feel with two drummers. Jared's singing over Spread Eagle Beagle was brilliant! Where he climbed into the audience was right next to me too!
