Not that I'm buying them anyway. I personally don't see the point in this series. It's like collecting baseball cards, more than it is about the music. The CD is good enough for me. In fact the general consensus here seemed to be that Sugar Daddy was a lackluster release compared to Endless Residency.

I'd like to get the whole set but I haven't been able to do it yet. There's a limerick here.
On 1-12 I failed and on HAT after AVS I bailed.
They had the full HAT set at this place I go to not too long ago for 80 bucks but someone beat me to it.
They do look really nice though. 20 bucks for two tracks is a little harsh.

I don't think so. Some old news you may not know tho is that U-Men, The Cows, OFF!, Tweak Bird, Fucked Up, Mudhoney and Butthole Surfers are all gonna get splits. Whilst others speculated to be involved are Napalm Death, The Necros, and Negative Approach. I think of the 13 splits to be released these two have been the only confirmed/released ones as of yet.

Yes it was but the recording you hear wasn't the exact performance. Apparently what the band did was play the songs in that order through TWICE. Then afterwards they went back to the recordings and picked the best versions of each tune. So what you get in the end is a kind of "best of" of those performances. I'd be very interested in knowing which songs on Houdini Live were from the first run through and which from the second. :-k Also there WAS an audience there but only invited friends of the band.

For me that would be the PERFECT way to record any album. You get the intensity and excitement of a live performace coupled to the fact that you can tinker and compile the best possible version. If i ever had a band i would totally embrace that style of making albums.

my #3&4 are warped , it looks like someone sat in the middle of them, i,m gonna put them between some stuff to see if it will flatten out , i am gonna send Rob/Haze a msg just to let them know, this is the first time i have ever had a problem , well the mof,hof 2x7" that they sold a few weeks back had a bent corner but i was thinking that was cuz these records have been kicking around a few years

It wouldn't have cracked I think if there had just been some extra cardboard or bubble wrap instead of just the records in a cardboard mailer. Rob also said that some of the Off! stock got mixed in with the Killdozer during the initial inventory so they actually oversold the Killerdozer one and couldn't fulfill some orders. So normally they would have had extras if something like a broken one showed up.

My #3 and 4 were bent as well. Luckily all was well when it was unwrapped. It looked like it was due to the packaging job and not the shipping.

My 3 and 4 were perfect!
1 and 2 both had split sleeves and a tiny part of the label had torn off and is encased within the record, beneath the grooves. It's actually kind of cool and it looks like it'll still play ok.

And if I've heard right, the splits that were for sale at Grumpy's, #5 and 6, were tour only splits? I did take a look at them and they were totally clear, vs the clear with colored spots like the others. Might just be the way #5 and 6 have been done though.

The pressing plant fucked up and sent them in clear vinyl, amrep sent half back to the plant to be destroyed and the other half are being sold on the tour, 350 of each. The correction press of the splatter vinyl, 350 each should arrive in Minneapolis in a week or so. They will be sold on their site soon after that. The existence of the clear version is due to the fuck-up and wasn't the original intent, they just had to compromise due to the situation so the band would have some to sell on tour. Coincidentally speaking of fuck-ups, sounds like the next two in the series will be Fucked Up and Mudhoney

no prob, someone asked me in an e-mail so i'll add the info here: as stamped MWHC is 5 and the surfers are 6. However MWHC(Kicking Machine) is Scale 130 and the BS(Eye Flys) one is Scale 129.(Amrep single numbering scheme) The small batch that the band is touring with at the moment is not stamped with the numbers, but the majority will be (clear and splatter). Those that want theirs stamped after the fact will need to visit Grumpy's and order the Garlic Bomb Burger w/ a side of Haze's special sauce

Considering how much vinyl Haze has been not only releasing, but doing the art for and packaging and shipping himself, it's not odd at all. On top of taking care of Grumpy's, creating posters, personal life, and who knows what else.

Just as I remembered, I did have just perfect unused box in store, but then harsh Melvins-reality jumped in.
The box is just perfect to house 13 S'Daddys, but no more. How come I'm not surprised that there needs to be more room for a series of 13 x 12"s than you'd think at first. A minimum of 15 copies has to fit in, because vol. 5 and vol. 6 came on two different vinyl combos - and who knows what's in store until the series is finished.
This box was only advertised as fitting 12 LPs... but by my calculations the Sugar Daddy's are a little thinner than most normal Lps inside a standard cover.
As far as collecting the variants (The clear ones were actually just a pressing plant error that Haze accepted a partial shipment of so the band could sell them on the 51/51 tour) I am not all that concerned. I just want 13 awesome splits with greats bands and 13 different colored pigs. :D

I gotta get a bigger box somewhere, mine does not have space enough, I tried with other similar vinyl included. 13 would go, but it won't close with 15 - and I want to fit all 15 in it. I have no choice as I have already bought both versions of vol. 5 and vol. 6.
Maybe I should think about getting a real big one, so I could also include cardboard stiffeners in the box for those sleeves.

To Go Off And Things is a Cardiacs cover, Oxygen Of Duplicity is a Napalm Death original.

Mine has the matrix in the middle too...but i didn't notice it until this post as it played through fine when I listened. I also have 1200s with some heavy duty needles that are designed for battle djs. (No i don't battle...anymore :P)

The Gories? Not familiar
They're a garage rock band from Detroit, I don't think they have a bass player. They're pretty cool, have that scuzzy blues rock sound. They do a nice cover of Ghost Rider by Suicide. I'd recommend the album I Know You Fine, But How You Doin'.
Mick Collins from the Gories went on to form The Dirtbombs, who I know Buzz and Dale love.

I asked Buzz about it and he said these were the versions Patton gave to the other guys to learn the material. Yeah Patton recorded all of these on his own, without Buzz, Trevor and Lombardo.

I liken the Fantomas tracks...reminds me a little of the style on Suspended Animation. I get Buzz's point, why re record them when they sound good as demos. I can only imagine the time and effort it takes to learn these tracks as a musician after Patton gives you something like that to learn. It's so impressive to me that they can pull it off live.

So I bought the DVD, loved it and then watched the DVD with Neil Hamburger commentary and loved it more. The Ipecac Prize Basket contest was hilarious to me as I live maybe 15 minutes away from the Destiny Inn in beautiful Commerce, California. I was at a party at Husky Huskolds house (He is the guy that engineered The Director's Cut, Suspended Animation and other Mike Patton projects) and was telling him about the contest. He and my roommate both encouraged me to just go do it.
So I called the Destiny Inn to reserve Room 1. They gladly did that. I drove there, paid for the room, went in and switched out the Neil Hamburger card for a card that said "Fuck you, you are too late. You get nothing. Enjoy your stay in Hell's Own Motel" (or something like that..)
I then went to the front desk, told them my grandmother had just died and I need to go. They refunded my $60 for the room right there.
I have some pictures somewhere of me in the room with the Neil Hamburger card.
The Ipecac Prize Basket (box) came about 3 months later filled with tons of t-shirts, toys, vinyl, cds, pins, dvds, stickers and posters. Gave a lot of the stuff away to friends. Everyone won.

When we checked in and went to are room there was ants literally on the bed. The room was so dirty, so fillthy that I was not going to stay there. My husband went down to complain and the Guy said he'd be right up. When the guy came into the room he had some bug repellent and sprayed it all over the room and bed. I told my husband to go get are money back and they even got an attitude with that but we got are money back. I DONT RECOMMENDED NO ONE TO STAY THERE.

Side Question: History Of Bad Men has always been one of my fav Senile Animal tracks. I akways thought it was Buzz and Jared singing the whole time but now that I'm hearing the live version for the first time I think it's only Jared during the verse no? The live version is faster but kicks some serious ass!
(And yes I have purposely been depriving myself of ever hearing the Live at Sugar Daddy album so I could be surprised every time a new split came out. The process has taken longer than originally expected but its still cool.)

Haze hasn't completely ruled out making a box for these, although it's low down on his list if indeed it's still on his list at all.

Looking back this has to be one of the strangest series the Melvins have ever done. Awesome but really out there (And thus very Melvins). A compilation of splits featuring the Melvins' favorite bands (well, for the most part.) from a live album.
Would have been really wicked if they did something similar but with a studio full-length.

It's actual an 12 LP mailing box from Bags Unlimited. I figured they were so think without covers I could squeze 13 in there no problem. As far as the pictures, I edited everything with MS Pain or some other basic crappy program like that and printed them on sticker paper (Essentially a printable sheet that's like one large 8 1/2 X 11" return address label) I did it during a blizzard 2 years ago and it was a fun project to do. The skulls were actually iphone pics of one of my melvins shirts, the side orange skulls were scanned from the Bulls and Bees 10" and everything else came from the SD splits or Amrep FB page.

I have extra blank boxes from when I made mine. PM me and I can ship you one fo' free. Mine fits 13 splits plus I have 2 cardboard LP fillers in there too. Yours should fit.

Hey Brian is the dark blue King Buzzo the glitter pig version or is it the lighter blue one? I have the dark blue one and it seems to be glitter ink but it's not easy to tell. Yr pic helped a lot by the way. All I need is the KB glitter pig and the napalm death one. And of course the box would be nice too...
