Stag vinyl was very limited, the story goes that Atlantic only pressed
it once because they planned to drop the Melvins shortly thereafter.
To make up for the limited amount of copies, many deletes and
rejects like yours' found their way into the market. Some of them
had a photocopy insert because the manufacturer ran out of offset
printed inserts, and were too cheap to reprint them. There's also copies
of the vinyl out there with the hole punched off center as well.
I've seen a test pressing of Stag, but haven't seen any of the rejects yet.

okay, so i dont think there are altered tracks. i listened to side b first because the matrix is written a on side b and b on side a, and both labels are side b.

Anyway, back on topic. I don't even have Stag on vinyl yet. It's on the list. And while I certainly don't find it weak, I do find it one of the "stranger" Melvins records. I'm not sure why, it's just always seemed.........seemed..........strange. For the Melvins. Shit, I'm not sure strange is the right word, it's just different and I cannot for the life of me pinpoint why.

probably due to the cowbell, trumpet and the thin lizzy funk element. i think only die hard primus fans could really appreciate it.

I've only recently listened to this whole album and I'm still pretty lost..I remember the first time I listened to it through and thinking 'what the fuck?'
It seems like they might've had the most "fun in the studio" making this album..
Stag is a great record, People hear a horn solo on it and think it's weird.
The Bit & Buck Owens are my favorites,but the album as a whole is very
eclectic. I think it's harder for some listeners to switch gears that many
times in one album. A song like Skin Horse might be to bizarre/funny for
the average metal head, but it's a dynamic album.The mellow,fun & soft
noise parts make the heavy songs that much more heavy....Love it.
the cowbell on "buck owens" is yet another Great Moment in Cowbell Virtuosity.
