Title: 1985-10-11 & 1985-10-12 Winnipeg Gig Flyer & Newspaper Review

My guess is that there is no available flyer for the Calgary 1985-10-08 show, & this is probably the earliest Melvins show flyer in existence(?)

The Winnipeg audio recording (there's only one) has circulated with the wrong date all along.......

Great thread. Gotta love the fact that even in their  infancy they were still knocking the sox off 80's hair metal douche bag rockers(of course no offense to 80's hair metal douche bag rockers).

just an ironic little side note to this post........

the first Melvins show ever filmed was 1985-10-08 Calgary.

It was filmed by "Jim", who at the time lived in Winnipeg but was visiting Calgary and decided to test out his new video camera --- on the Melvins no less!

So --- had Jim been "home" instead of vacationing in Calgary, the Winnipeg shows probably would have been filmed & not the Calgary show!!

IIRC, that interview was done by Chris Dodge, of Slap-A-Ham/Spazz/No Use For A Name/Ozma artwork fame

Check out the articles on the wiki for the whole interview.

Just finished a listen to that show. It's great by 1985 Melvins standard even if Buzz hasnt tuned his vocal yet (it will come way later when he took singing lesson in San Francisco post Gluey Porch Treatment)

I really like the sound of the drums, the guitars and bass on that show. Buzz said in later interview that Lukin sucked at bass but in that show he did a really good job (Listen to Snake Appeal and Loose).  The only annoying thing in that show is Buzz voice, specially on At A Crawl.

It's on Youtube is you want to have a listen.
