I'm slightly offended that no one contacted me in reference to label support.

Not like I could offer any currently but come on now.

Now that i've got all my recording stuff up and running again i'll try to contribute something. I recorded a version of Black Bock awhile ago but it sucked bad. I'll think of a song to do and post here.

Hey mop, do u need a drummer?

hmm, i might. I was thinking of programming the beats. If i get stuck doing that i may go for the real drum thing.

I think most of us are slightly pessimistic about this even happening.  But it's fun to talk about regardless.

if my band wont do this, since im the only member who likes the melvins, i can play bass or drum on a track if anyone in new york needs it.

Take it easy.

A few years ago I recorded an instrumental cover of "Let It All Be."
Sample mp3: http://download.yousendit.com/25377DFE4C05C7A9.
I don't consider myself much of a singer, so if someone would like to add vocals to it let me know. Otherwise I'll lay down some vocals if you guys want to use it.

great idea !
is this like the 3rd attempt or so ?
I think there's been more than 3 attempts. Seriously it should be done though, it's a great idea.
There's been one successful attempt at the fan level; around 98 (?) a few bands put out a cd / made a page with downloadable mp3s.  I'll see if its still around.   A cd was professionally burned ( I think?) and a few copies were given to the band.  Chanting of the Priests?

Yes. I have a copy of this. There are Melvins covers mixed with original material.

It seemed to be made up of mostly East coast bands. Brian said that Melvins List members put it togeather. I will scan the cover and post it here later, that will give everyone the true information. I can't remember what year it came out.

Don't let Melvins-l out-do Melvins.net!

There's actually some good stuff on it. At the time no one here at the BBS paid any attention to it. Some melvins.net BBS members were outright mad: "Why would I want to listen to a cover of my favorite band when I can hear the original". Or something to that effect.

My cover of Black Bock sucks pretty bad and should not be heard by anyone. I'm trying to come up with something else though. Not sure what yet.

My post was a (very) lame joke. I don't have anything to offer to this project but I can't wait to hear what it sounds like.

I'm pretty sure you can handle pure digital silence.

You going to to artwork also? Some non-musical type can do that!

I want the first copy! 1/500

I was thinking along the lines of a giant, raging hamburger as album art. Anyone here know how to draw (or photoshop) giant hamburgers?

Oh, and to lamestain: can you send a full version of let it all be? vocals don't matter and an instrumental will be appreciated nontheless.
experimental industrial ambient nothings. give constructive/destructive criticism.
